Rita had begun to corespond with Angel's Lover via email, after stumbling over her fanfiction story, Dark Night while skimming a few sites. She had started reading and gotten hooked.
The hero, Adam, was a dark, troubled and brooding night in tarnished armour, and the heroine, Christina, was an intelligent, gutsy young woman. The chemistry between the two characters was enough to practically send sparks shooting off the monitor.
After reading the story it had stayed in her head for days, and she had found herself checking the archive she had found the story in almost daily, looking for another part.
Eventually she had emailed Angel's Lover to tell her how much she had enjoyed the story and to ask if there were any more parts. There hadn't been at that stage but they had continued to chat via email regularly.
The modem completed it's rather noisy and annoying logging on proceedure and Rita accessed the Dark Night homepage and downloaded the new part. Then she logged off and began reading.

Later that night Rita padded into the kitchen to raid the fridge. She had printed out the Dark Night story and had shown it to Chris.
She was definetely going to send thanks to Angel's Lover.

BTW how's the new story going?

Dana Scully smiled as she read the email from Angel's Lover. She quickly switched to her browser and downloaded the new part of Dark Night. She would read it a little later, once she had finished typing up the report for her and Mulder's last case.
She had discovered the Dark Night series while posting one of her own stories to an archive. The summary had intrigued her, so she had downloaded it and after reading it had immediately sent feedback.
The characters had felt like friends and she had really identified with Christina. Adam reminded her so much of Mulder. Both were on a crusade of some kind and both had a troubled past. And both were completely oblivious to the fact that what their partners really wanted to do was drag them into bed. Or hit them over the head with a sledge hammer to knock some sense into them.
At the moment the last option was looking more and more likely to Dana. She was completely frustrated with him. If she didn't know better, she would swear the man was as blind as a bat. She had all but thrown herself at him. Mulder may hold a Phd in Psycology, but he sure didn't have a clue about women.
Finishing the report she switched to the new Dark Night story. Ohh this looked promising. Maybe they'd finally get together. It was about bloody time. Dana quickly lost herself in the story.
Mulder entered the office quietly, although it wasn't intentional. Scully was at his desk engrossed in whatever it was she was engrossed in. Actually what was she so involved in? It certainly wasn't one of the never ending reports they had to turn in. And what was that look on her face? She looked...flushed.
Walking up behind her silently he began reading over her shoulder. His eyebrows almost dissapeared into his hairline and his face flushed as he read the text on the screen. Scully read this?! How could he have missed it? He was beginning to understand that he seemed to have missed alot when it came to her.
Scully hit the page down key. "Hey, I haven't finished reading that part yet!"
=================
Dana stretched the kinks out of her muscles and sat down to finish the rest of the story. Mulder had gone to buy breakfast.
She was definitely going to have to thank Angel's Lover.

PS How's Toronto?

Natalie Lambert smiled as she hit the reply button. She had already read the new story, having finished it only minutes ago. God she wished that was her and Nick! But just like Adam in the previous stories, he was too set against them being together.
In some ways it was strange how much like Nick Adam was. It was almost as if Angel's Lover knew him, and was using him as the inspiration for Adam. In way she found the similarities between Nick and Adam comforting. If Christina could convince Adam to take a chance, then maybe she could convince Nick.
Now she just had to figure out how to do it.

Harmon Rab entered Mac's office. "Heads up!" he threw a computer disk at her.
"What's this? Not more files on the McCready case?" Mac was beginning to think that the McCready case would never end.
"Nope, not the McCready case."
"Then what?" Mac caught a look at the mischeivious look in Harm's eye. "It's not...."
"You free tonight?"
"For the Dark Night? Always." she grinned as he feigned a wounded statement. "What did you have planned?"
"Well you know late nights. Long hours at at the computer......take out food.....little sleep...."
"Sounds...alright."she was going to say something else, but one of the clerks had just knocked on her door. "I'll see you later."
Harm grinned at her and left her office. She smiled inwardly. Tonight was going to be......fun.

Lois Lane-Kent skimmed another fanfic archive, looking for something new. She had read a few pieces. Some good, some not so good and some excellent. Right now she was bored. It was a slow news day and she was attempting to look busy.
Dark Night series. This looked interesting. Lois clicked on the link to the story and began reading. A couple of hours later she fired up her email and wrote feedback to the author.
The Dark Night series had really captivated her. It was written as a realistic situation and the chemistry between the lead characters was so hot, she was supprised the monitor didn't melt.
She was certainly beginning too.
The elevator dinged, and she glanced up to see Clark stepping off. Quickly shutting down the computer, she grabbed her purse, told Perry that they'd be back in a couple of hours and practically dragged a bewildered Clark out of the Newsroom.
They were heading home. She'd just discovered a great idea for a slow news day.
