XPIcons Install Notes

Thank you for using Mad_Ady's XP Icon Set.
This program replaces your original Windows icons with their WindowsXP counterparts.
This program is freeware (like every program should be!).

System requirements:

In order for the XPIcon Set program to run properly, it needs Windows 95(OSR1 or OSR2) or Windows 98/98SE/Me. It may also run under Windows 2k/NT/XP, but it hasn't been tested. (And besides, why would you want to run it under Windows XP?) :)
The program will NOT work under Windows 3.1 or 3.11 (although I don't think many people use them anymore!).

Installation:

Launch the XPIcons.exe program and decompress into the default folder. Answer with "Yes" at every subsequent question until you see the "Installation completed successfully!" message. Now, you MUST reboot your computer for changes to take effect.

For Windows 98/98SE/Me/+ make sure that the "Show icons using all possible colors" check box under Display Properties->Effects IS checked.
Windows 95 users can enable this option using Microsoft Plus! or a third party software.

If the icons are not displayed properly try rebooting your computer or checking and unchecking the "Show icons using all possible colors" box. It will work eventually.

If you want to uninstall the program, all you have to do is go to Start->Programs->XPIcon Set->Uninstall and the original settings will be restored and the program uninstalled.

Bugs:

Version 1.0 Final ->

The fonts in Windows\Fonts folder do not get the cool font icon. This is because the Fonts folder is a special folder. I'm working to correct this problem.
If your Windows folder is not C:\Windows, you will encounter problems with the installation. Drop me an e-mail and I'll help you solve them.
After you uninstall the application, some of the file types might not get their icon back or might get a bad-looking icon instead. This does not affect the file or the system in any way.
