November/December 2008 Update

* New link in Photos * New Trivia * New Quotes from Anthony & others * New video featured in Music > Greenwillow *

Hello everyone! I just wanted to check in this week and explain for the absence of new Tony stuff for the past while - I have been extremely busy with working and now also the final year of my degree, doing 'grown up things' as people might say. I still have this website very close to my heart though and will be looking forward to Christmas break when I can dedicate some time to catching up with the kind visitors who continue to send me emails, and contributing new material to the site. Through my course I'm learning a lot of new software and coding skills and definitely hope to tighten and brighten things up around here - I am working on a slick new look for 2009 as I type!

This week I bought myself a copy of "Anthony Perkins: A Haunted Life" by Ronald Bergan, which next to "Split Image" is probably the only other easily obtainable biography of Perkins' life. For a long time I was hesitant to buy it, because it seemed that it focused very heavily on the impact Norman Bates had on his life. As a long term fan I almost try to stay away from too much Psycho, to appreciate and treasure his other, more under-appreciated life's work. But I look forward to reading it (it's a lot thicker than I was expecting) so that this can enable me to do a more in-depth section/review of the book especially for Mad-About-Tony. Other very exciting news is that Charles Winecoff, the author of Split Image, has adapted his biography into a screenplay - I am sure like me, you will eagerly anticipate updates on this progress and wish Mr. Winecoff the best of luck in bringing his dedicated research and hard work to life. I know this will re-ignite people's fascination with Tony and bring a lot of new fans to celebrate his memory.

HAPPY 5th BIRTHDAY!

Yes people, Mad-About-Tony.co.uk is still alive and kicking. I created this site on 28th December 2002, and have put too much time and hard work into it to let it stop now! Thankyou everyone for continuing to send me emails and compliments even through the long periods when I had no updates or changes to make. I am extremely grateful for your support and your shared enthusiasm for keeping the memory of Mr. Perkins alive. I hope you enjoy the new look for the site, and wish you all a very happy 2008!

So... what's new?

I'm sure that first of all, you'll be glad to see a picture gallery is back. I have decided that rather than try to be the biggest Perkins gallery online, I would just post a selection of my favourites (which um, turned out to be a lot more than I thought!) - quality, not quantity. In addition I will provide links to the best online collections, to whet your Perkins appetite!

Secondly, I have reviewed and revised pretty much all of the written content, and will try and add more here and there when I can. The newest section to be completed is on Perkins' immediate family, this is only small however, as I would like to direct your attention to a wonderful NEW site that has been created : The Perkinses which will focus on these talented individuals in far more depth. I have to say I am very happy and excited to see another active Perkins site in development.

Lastly I have removed the Guestbook and Contact Form features. Visitors from Europe were having difficulty using the forms, and unfortunately it was also being heavily targeted by advertisers and spam bots, so it became a bit more trouble than it was worth to monitor when only every 1 in 20 messages was genuine. If you want to contact me please just email [email protected]

And just to answer a few things before you email me... have a read at the new FAQs page! :)

All the best from Northern Ireland,
Rachel
