Mad-About-Tony.co.uk is, if you aren't already aware, a tribute to the wonderful and multi-talented Anthony Perkins. I created "Mad-About-Tony" on 28th December 2002, which only began as a single page tribute finished on 5th January 2003. Since then I've gradually built it up to provide information on all aspects of Perkins' career - over ten thousand hits later and with contributions from visitors all over the world, it became the site it is today. My ambition as a fan was to create a place where one could find everything one would want to know about Perkins - which came from a lot of time, hard work and extensive research, not just online but also in print. At the time of Mad-About-Tony's creation there no longer existed a site that could adequately provide this. I am not only suprised but very proud at how far the site has come, and I wish to stress that I didn't and couldn't have done it all on my own. So a big thankyou to all of you who are reading this right now :)

My name is Rachel, I'm from Belfast in Northern Ireland, and I have been an enormous fan of Tony's since July of 2000, when I sat down with my dad and watched Psycho after many years of studying the video case that had fascinated me ever since I was little. His most famous performance in this classic Hitchcock film impressed me more than any other actor I had seen, and ever since then I have been dedicated to collecting pictures of him, his music, biographies and of course watching his films. During this time I have discovered what a truly talented man he was and that he was capable of so much more than just the 'Norman Bates' image that was pinned on him. Although it is sad to see how typecast he was into mentally unstable characters later in his career, Perkins said in his last interview to a member of the press, "Maybe Psycho will remind people that I did do other things", and he was right.

It is remarkable that his memory is still so profound today as it was fifty years ago, and I hope that my small contribution does him justice and gives him the credit that he never fully received when he was alive. Tony has shown the world during his film career that he was an extremely versatile actor, and I hope all you other Tony fans out there appreciate the hard work that I have put into this humble little website! I would very much appreciate your e-mails and I would like to know exactly what you thought of my tribute to my favourite actor. Also, if you notice any factual errors or faults with the site please don't hesitate to let me know.
