The pictures on this page consist of The Embankment. A very popular gathering place for the people of Bedford, and for surrounding counties. Its not hard to see why when you visit this place at night, it is beautiful. And at night it comes alive with some pretty lights lining the length of the River. I often visit this place with my children or just with friends to chill out. Every two years, we hold a River Festival that just gets bigger 'n' better every year. Everyone from miles around gathers to this spectacular event and makes it what it is, an amazing day for everyone. There are floats, bandstands, fair rides, stalls, fireworks in the evening, live radio, shows and much more then I can mention here!
The river boasts an array of wildlife. We have beautiful swans that live by this river alongside some ducks and geese and a whole load of other wildlife. The River is often used by people who want to take their canoe down the length of it, although you have to use the River via a club, you cant just plonk your boat in the River and use it! It is used for raft races during the River Festival which is hilarious! Everyone just goes mad roaring for their chosen side to win and some of the rafts are a bit dodgy I must say!
