Which Way is Bethlehem?

One of my very favorite hymns was written by Bill and Gloria Gaither, "I'll worship only at the feet of Jesus." While written for singing at any time of the year, it brings to mind the picture of the Shepherds on that wonderful Christmas night. The shepherds kneeling at the lowly manger in worship to the One of Whom the angels sang.

The night began as told so beautifully in the Gospel of Luke:

And there were in the same country, shepherds abiding in the field,
Keeping watch over their flocks by night.
And lo, the Angel of the Lord appeared unto them,
And they were sore afraid.

And the Angel said unto them, "Fear not,
For behold I bring you good tidings of great joy
Which shall be to all people.

For unto you, is born this day in the City of David,
A Savior which is Christ the lord.
And this shall be a sign unto you,
You shall find the Babe wrapped in swaddling clothes,
Lying in a manger."

And suddenly there was with the Angel a multitude
Of the heavenly host, praising God and saying,
Glory to God in the Highest, Peace on earth and
Good will toward Men.

Like the Shepherds, we are filled with wonder, but......
Which way is Bethlehem, that City of David?
Can it be that in all our celebration,
Our music, our lights, our gifts, our cards, our parties,
We are missing the real meaning of Christmas?

Is Jesus real in our cars, and the places where we work,
And in our homes? He wants to be. He came to be our Savior,
Our companion, our guide, our closest friend.
He has promised to accept all who will come to Him.
Have you asked Him into your heart?
