I was listening to some Christmas music and was surprised at the words of one song. It went something like this: Santa Claus and popcorn, I must confess that I like them all, even Santa Claus. It's so nice to see the little children at the malls and department stores gazing at Santa Claus with shining eyes. Yes, I like the popcorn, jingle bells, reindeer horns, Christmas trees, and the mistletoe, but I like best that Jesus loves me. And really, the fact that Jesus loves you and me is the real meaning of Christmas. Love was what brought Him down from heaven to a lowly stable. I'm thrilled by the message of the angel to the shepherds: "Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, which is Christ the Lord." Why not take time to consider this Jesus Christ who lives today, who loves you, who can make a difference in your world, and who can make a difference in your heart. ------ H.W. McClelland |
