I'm Just Waiting For My Time

She was middle aged and she spoke softly
Spoke with a sad resignation in her voice.
She said, "I'm no longer young and attractive,
I'm just waiting for my time."

We knew what she meant. She had given up.
Nothing to live for any longer. Life had past
Past her by, and the roses had faded.
She lived alone with just her memories.
Memories of cheeks blushed by roses
Life with arms full of roses brought to her door.
Handsome young men seeking her favor,
Hoping at last for one glimpse of her smile.

Wonderful nights of whirling and dancing.
Beautiful gowns that caught every eye
Dark hair with combs beaded with diamonds.
Face like a heavenly angel radiant with joy.
Now her days and nights only brought loneliness
Gone was her youth and all of it's beauty.
Gone too, the men who had pledged undying love
Where are they now. Where are their promises?

Tell me, can you relate to the above story?
Perhaps you can see yourself as the main character,
Or one of the minor characters. A man who
Brought dozens of lovely roses to win the fair lady.

While this is but a storybook tale---all too often
It happens in real life. We read these sad stories--
With sympathy, even if ourselves are not glamorous
As she was, or charming like her would-be lovers.

In real life God can turn such loneliness into joy.
His love includes everyone, glamorous or plain,
Young or old, rich or poor, His love is for all.
Self-pity will be gone. Roses will bloom again.

The phrase "I'm just waiting for my time" will be
Forever forgotten. It will be "I'm waiting for His time."
There is work to be done. Good news to tell others.
Years can be restored. Life can be lived to the fullest

For now you know He loves you without reservation
Loves you for He created you to be special.
Sent His Son Jesus to die on a cross to save you.
Save you because we all need saving from S.I.N.
For we must not forget that God is holy. Infinitely holy.
Sin cannot enter heaven. But God has provided a WAY.
The way is to bring your sins to the foot of the cross
The Cross where Jesus died to put away that sin.
In the words of the old hymn, "bring them all to Jesus."
He alone is able to cancel all your sinful past.
Doing penance, doing good works, praying earnestly
Cannot erase that dark past, but Jesus can and will.

But you say, "there is nothing special about me."
Oh, but there is. You're one of a kind---uniquely you!
He has a plan for your life if you'll come as you are.
You'll be numbered among God's precious jewels.

He's promised that in His word and He cannot lie.
God's word is "settled in heaven" we read in His word.
Come with your sin and claim His forgiveness.
He waits with arms open wide to receive you. Come.
