Told by Dr. W. Frank Harrington former senior pastor Dr. Pierce Harris, a great Atlanta preacher told the story of a couple who were estranged from one another, and who had decided to end their marriage, going to a Christmas Pageant in the First Methodist Church there in Atanta. They went only because they had a little girl, and they wanted to sit with her during that final time they would meet together in public. And when the program was over they went home, and the little girl, knowing the frustration and tension between her parents, forgot about the trouble in their home, and was absorbed by the play that unfolded at her church. And when she got home her father said, "You go up now and go to bed, it's late." And as she made her way up the stairs she stopped at a window and opened the window. And her father said "Why did you open that window? It's cold and the night air is coming in, shut the window now". And she said "I opened the window because I thought I heard the angels sing". And he walked over to the window and slammed it shut and he said "I don't hear any angels out there, you go on now and go to bed." She made her way on up to the top of the stairs, and then she turned and said "Daddy, you have to listen with your heart, if you want to hear the singing of the angels". |
