Using the macro can save your a lot of button presses when playing AOE.Let me start out by saying, this macro program is not a virus or any hacked program. It's a commercially available program where it automates any process on a windows based computer. It can't give you free food, nor gold. It only simplifies the number of buttons you have to press when playing the AOE game. Details of the program is available at http://www.macros.com

There is only ONE thing you can do with macro and that is make things fast. For example, you can "run through" all the barracks or stables and click on legions or elephants with press of ONE button, instead of pressing CONTROL+B and clicking on the legion icon.

The Macro program let's you do this super fast, faster then you can sit there and click away. One of the side effects of this is the fact that when you do this fast and there is a Network Delay or the game "lags" sometimes you can make peons or legions out of un-built town centers and barracks. This is a bug in AOE in multiplayer game environment. If you were to sit there and type "HCHCHCHCHC..." many times when the game is lagging, you will also get the peons out of the town center without the use of macro. Therefore, macro is not a cheat, but an aid to game players improving their performance.

Today on the zone, many players claim to be Super Experts. But you will find that many of these self proclaimed Super Experts are not so super. It's most likely that they are using this macro program. There are many other macro programs in the commercial market today, but this is the only program that I know of that works for AOE.

This page has been up for 2 days now and there has already been over 200 people that have stopped by to download the program. Many have had success in getting it to work and I have also received few messages that say they are having problems. If you are having problems, please go through the instructions carefully once again and email me on what happens when you actually press a button.

Some people consider this cheating and some people who already have it swear that this is not a cheat but an aid. It's lie comparing a Microsoft Intellimouse to a Cheap non-brand mouse. They both serve the same purpose, but one does it "better". Another example is when one person has a PIII 800 Mhz computer and another only has a P133 Mhz computer. The system with slower speed will lag much more compared to the other, and everyone knows what happens when you lag.

Let me warn you people now. There are two types of people on the zone who will speak out against the use of macro.

1) People who don't know what macro is or what macro does.

2) People who already have macro for themselves and but don't want you to have.

There is no way in hell a non-macro user can beat a macro user. There is no way to pop under 4 mins without macro. Even with macro you have to be super fast to be able to do it and depends on how far you build out your barracks and how many peons and legions you can get from empty building because of the lag. If the condition is perfect, you can actually pop in 3 mins by making 20 or more empty TC's and get 20 peons out in 1st 15 secs into the game. Using this approach, imagine what you can do. But I say this again, you can get 20 peons out of 20 empty TC's also if the conditions were perfect. It's just that your fingers better be super fast....

I suspect over 80% of the Top Super Experts use macro. I am not talking about those people that post "Super Expert" and get their butt's kicked by the real Super Experts in 20 mins or less.. If you decide not to use it and constantly get your butt kicked by the self proclaimed "Super Experts"(macro users) that's entirely up to you. I have created this site so that we can play a fair game and not be limited on our "hardware". With this site, I hope to bring justice to the zone and maybe we get a fair game anytime we log on.

Follow the following instructions and be on your way to be a super expert.

1) download the program here: ftp://216.231.128.38/macex.exe

2) Install the program

3) Now you need to Create the Macros

a) Goto "Macro" menu and choose "add macro" You will see the following screen show up. Enter press ALT and any key you want to use as a macro.

In this example we picked, ALT+A

b) Click on "Script Editor" and you will see the following screen.

c) To make a macro for legions copy the following text into the "Macro Script window"

When you paste it on the screen, it will show the following

d) keep pasting the same thing over and over again. Every paste of the script will move from one barrack to another.

For example, if you want to macro to go through and click 20 legions, you would paste it 20 times.

e) Click on the properties tab and give your macro a name

f) Make sure you select "Global" for scope selection.

f) Click on "Save" button to save your macro.

You are done. When you play AOE, make sure your game setting is at XVGA resolution

or your legion macro will not work.

For SVGA (800x600) resolution copy and paste: <CTRL>B<MMS:00231,00516><LCLK>

For VGA (640x480) resolution copy and paste: <CTRL>B<MMS:00223,00385><LCLK>

If you want to make one for anything else follow the same steps but give different key stokes for every macro.

To make macro for peons, copy and paste the following into the Script Editor:

To make macro for elephants, copy and paste the following into the Script Editor:

<CTRL>LE

To make macro for archers, copy and paste the following into the Script Editor:

<CTRL>AC

To make macro for Cats, copy and paste the following into the Script Editor:

<CTRL>KC

Just paste enough times to make enough of everything. You can always go back and add more if you need it.

To test out your macro, start AOE on your local computer. After you build everything, try out your new Macro keys.
