Macro Virus
Macro viruses are very common. Two most common mechanism for Macro viruses to spread are using Excel or Word.
In Excel most macros affect Personal.XLS file and in turn it infects every .xls file you open or create.
In Word most macro affect NORMAL.DOT template. This template is basis for all most all Word documents. Once infected it will infect every .doc file you open or create.
Both Word and Excel macro viruses tend to keep macro names very common like "check_files", "auto_open", "AutoOpen", "FileSaveAs" to confuse you into thinking it is part of the Word or Excel.
What do you
do to protect yourself against macro viruses?
1. Don't enable macros if you are not sure. 2.
Don't open Excel and Word files send from unknown party. 3. Keep your virus protection software active and up to date.
