| About Macrina |
| Listen carefully, my son/daughter, to the master's instructions, and attend to them with the ear of your heart. ...Your way of acting should be different from the world's way; the love of Christ must come before all else. You are not to act in anger or nurse a grudge. Rid your heart of all deceit. Never give a hollow greeting of peace or turn away when someone needs your love. -from the Rule of St. Benedict Sister Macrina Wiederkehr, OSB, author and spiritual guide, is a Benedictine monastic of St. Scholastica Monastery in Fort Smith Arkansas. She is well known for her books: Seasons of Your Heart, A Tree Full of Angels, The Song of the Seed (Harper Collins Publishing Co.), Gold in Your Memories, and Behold Your Life (Ave Maria Press). In addition to writing, she travels extensively throughout the U. S. and Canada as a retreat director. In her retreats seekers are guided through an experience of silence, solitude, and sharing, while also benefiting from generous periods of time for reflective inner-healing. Viewing each retreatant as a poem written by God, she sometimes encourages them to "tell who they are" by means of simple bio-poems. Macrinas own bio-poem, which changes a little each year, follows. MACRINA Creative, restless, joyful, forgiving, loyal Lover of morning, good books, good coffee, the land, truth Who feels intense, hopeful, loving, overwhelmed Who needs words, silence, God, friends, laughter, tears Who fears big barking dogs, dead-lines, prejudice, violence Who gives encouragement, compassion, inspiration, surprises Who would like to see Switzerland, a just world, a whooping crane. |
