The Castle MacLaaran is ruled in a democratic basis rather than by a King. It consists of one ruling body which We refer to as the Council. Lord Marc, Our founder, was recently appointed Duke of Normandee, the Advisor to King Louie of France, and He has left this Council totally in charge of MacLaaran.
The Council consists of a minimum of four and a maximum of six members, which can include Nobles, Commoners, and servants selected on the basis of their honesty, integrity and dedication to the ongoing development of MacLaaran.
All Council members have equal status and equal voting power, one vote each. A unanimous vote is required to add new members to the Council.
When an opening occurs, the Council will consider people that have exhibited conduct above and beyond the norm, by either acts of bravery in defense of MacLaaran or by good deeds done for the betterment of MacLaaran. Then, upon unanimous vote of the Council, one may take the "Oath of Service". The oath is sworn during a Council meeting in the Great Hall.
The Council will meet periodically, as required, to review, discuss and vote regarding current operations, including membership applications to the MacLaaran Family.
The Council members will try to cover as many hours as possible in the chat room in order to meet and greet visitors, answer questions and get to know potential new members.
The Council will elect a chairperson to schedule and chair the meetings, but the chairperson will still only have one vote and be an equal to the other Council Members.
The Council will handle the following operations:
1. MacLaaran Membership
The Council members will attempt to spend a little time with all applicants to get to know them and then vote aye or nay. If the first vote is a unanimous yes, the prospective applicant will be awarded the scroll, key and/or collar by one of the Council Members ASAP.
If a Council Member expresses any concerns, the applicant will be so advised along with any suggestions the Council can offer to correct the problem. The applicant can then be considered again in approximately two weeks, after the Council has had time for re-evaluation. At that time majority rules.
If Ye award a key or a collar, please email the Council to avoid duplication.
2. Role Playing Games (RPG)
Role playing within the MacLaaran themes is vital to maintain day to day activity. Multiple RPG's will often be going on and members are encouraged, but not obligated, to participate in games that interest them.
The Council has assigned Sir Kyle as the Game Master. He will develop and maintain the RPG rules and monitor the various games.
3. Castle Security
The safety of our residents and villagers is a
serious matter. The Council has assigned Sir Tristram de Liones as Captain of
the Guard. The Castle Guards work under His command to protect MacLaaran.
4. Events
The Council will strive to maintain a constant flow of MacLaaran events. The Council has selected
Lady Damiana as Our Events Manager and She will select a chairperson for each event. That chairperson will then select a committee, preferably from the general membership to keep people involved.
Events might include tournaments, festivals, fairs, parties, annual celebrations and even one night games.
5. Ambassador
The Council has select Praegorn as Our Ambassador. Prae is also the editor of the MacLaaran Herald. His job will be to spread the word via the Webmaze message boards regarding Our Events and Games.
6. Castle
Records
All records of MacLaaran are kept in a vault
in the Council Room. The Council appointed ~lava~{K}
as scribe. she takes notes of the minutes at all Council meetings and keeps
pertinent information posted on the website.
