Mack on Parodies

There are many different types of role-plays: promos, interviews, novel type, and actual role-plays.  But one of my most favorite types of role-plays is parodies.

Parodies??

For those of you wondering what a parody is let me explain.  A parody is when you take something already made, change it up, and print it as your own.  For example Wired Al is a song writer that makes parodies of popular songs.  He adds a comic twist to it and reprints it.  Now in the wrestling world parodies can be a big influence in a win for you.

Different types of Parodies

There are different types of Parodies you can use.  There is the song parody, the parody of your opponent’s role-plays, and my personal favorite movie parody.  I will go through each one and explain it more.

-Song Parodies-

Song Parodies can be a little hard on role-plays.  Due to the fact that you don’t have the music.  But there are ways around that.  You can either say what music you are using or you can find a midi file and put it on the page.  Here is an example of listing out the song when you do the parody, I got this from Mr. Canada:

WWA DESIRE

MR. CANADA

SET TO THE MUSIC OF OUR LADY PEACE - "Not Enough"

( The scene fades up with a shot of Mr.
Canada holding the WWA US title, and after a few seconds of silence, Mr. Canada's voice can be heard. )

Mr.
Canada:
People often ask me what it is about this business that makes me want to be in it. People ask me why I wrestle. Sometimes I really don't know the answer to that question, but sometimes I will say because it's in my heart, it's in my blood. I love this business more than anything else, and to stand on the grandest stage of them all is always something I love...

There's nothing you can say
Nothing you can do
There's nothing in between
You know the truth

(Shots of Hallock in various high risk moves are seen. )

Nothing left to face
There's nothing left to lose
Nothing takes your place

(Shots of Hallock being carried out due to injuries. )

When they say
You're not that strong
You're not that weak
It's not your fault
And when you climb up to your hill
Up to your place
I hope you're well

(Shots of Mr. Canada beating El Feroz to win the WWA US title. )

There's nothing left to prove
There's nothing I won't do
There's nothing like the pain
I feel for you

(Shots of Mr.
Canada taking various sick bumps. )

Nothing left to hide
Nothing left to feel
I am always here

(Shots of Mr.
Canada standing tall in the ring are shown. )

When they say
You're not that strong
You're not that weak
It's not your fault
And when you climb up to your hill
Up to your place
I hope you're well

(Shots of Mr. Canada slapping hands with the fans. )

What you want
What you lost
What you had
What is gone is over

(Mr.
Canada in tears over his first title.)

What you got
What you love
What you need
What you have is real

(Mr.
Canada seen winning the semi final WWA United States Tournement Match over Justin Sane.)

It's not enough
It's not enough
It's not enough
It's not enough, I'm sorry

(Shots of Mr. Canada taking more sick bumps. )

It's not enough
It's not enough
It's not enough
It's not enough...

(Shots of Mr.
Canada in the TLC Match with Mortiis Magnus.)

When they say
You're not that strong
You're not that weak
It's not your fault
And when you climb up to your hill
Up to your place
I hope you're well

It's not enough
No
It's not enough
It's not enough

(Hallock standing on the ropes with the WWA United States title. )

As you can see he listed the song at the top and he split the words up into lyric stanzas.  It also helped out that he put in different shots that were going on while it was happening.  An example of a role-play with the music on it is from my own collection.  It takes place when I was fighting a wrestler named Scooby.  So the only logical thing to do is make a parody of the Scooby-Doo theme song, ahh are you starting to get it.  You use what you got to deal with.  If there is something about your opponent that reminds you of a song or something then use it.  http://www.geocities.com/mackjb962289/efed/rp19.html there is the link for the parody.  One of the key things in a song parody is trying to keep some part of the original song in it so people can recognize it.  You might also want to use a song that people know about.

-Opponent rp parody-

The best example I could think of this is Terry O’Reilly’s parody of Mortiis Magnus rp.  Just to give some background history to this.  This set place in the IWF.  Mortiis Magnus is a dark character, for more on character development, and Terry O’Reilly is the ultimate face.  “If Mortiis can do it, then so can I” http://irish_terry_oreilly.tripod.com/rp5.html  In this rp Terry takes the basic layout and pictures that Mortiis uses and changes them around to fit himself.  Not only did he make a parody of Mortiis rp, Terry used it to advance his storyline.  It key when you do a parody that it doesn’t set your story line back.

-Movie Parody-

Alright now into the section I love to do.  Movie parodies can be so much fun to make.  Here is a list of the different ones I have done.  The background:  I was the leader of a Stable called Fates Warning, by the way the greatest stable ever, and we were in the Gang WarFare match, a match between stables to see who was the best stable.  We were going against a stable by the name of Set Initiative.

When you do a movie parody take from movies that you know.  The take scenes that stand out to you and use them.  It’s best to use something that you know good then something that you know somewhat.  Once again keep to your general story line.

Summery

With all the different types of parodies you got to remember a few things.  One, keep following your storyline.  Two, keep to your character’s style.  If your character is a major face, then you don’t want to do a parody of him being the villain in a movie.  Three, if you use other people get there promotion to use them.  In all of my movie parodies I had promotion from the wrestlers to use them.  Four, this is the most important point, have fun doing it.  A parody is for entertainment.  Make sure you have fun with it and the people that read it enjoy it.

Until the next lesion this is Mack signing out.
