Do you remember when I was a teenager,
with my makeup and school dances?
Do you know how much I loved you then?
I watched you work so hard to pay the bills
and I prayed that I would be just like you,
strong and smart, loving and kind.
And I loved you.
Do you remember when I grew up, daddy,
with my college courses and odd jobs?
Do you know how much I loved you then?
I tried so hard to be who you wanted,
even though I wasn't happy pretending.
But I loved you.
Do you see me now all grown up and married,
with bills to pay and work to do?
Do you know how much I still love you?
Not a day goes by when I don't miss your support
and pray that someday you'll see
that I'm still your little girl
who thinks that you carry the moon
in your shirt pocket.
And I love you....always.
