I Hear My Ancestors

I hear my ancestors
calling to me
but their voices
have been whispered
by ages gone by
and deluted blood.
What is it that you
need me to know?
What life lesson is it
that you need me to learn?
How can I listen
with my mind's ears
to your voices
so far removed?
I long to understand
your message,
to reclaim your knowledge,
to find my place
in your world.
Speak to my heart
so that I may feel.
Speak to my mind
so that I may understand.
Speak to my soul
so that I may live
as you know I should.
Help me to integrate
your lessons,
your wisdom,
your truths
into what I am now.
Help me to find
my peace in nature,
my place in society,
my identity in myself.
Help me to find
what I am to become
in order to fulfill
my destiny.
