Low-Cost High-Performance PC-Based CNC Products

A complete CNC package is now available from MACHINEMATE INC for as little at $7000 (list price).  This is a high-performance CNC at the price of an industrial PC.

This price includes:

·        Industrial control in CE stainless steel shell with IP65 front panel

·        Flat TFT screen: 10.4” color display

·        Operator key pad

·        Interface to either analog or SERCOS drives (4 servos for analog; 8 for SERCOS)

·        Enough DC input and output points for many applications (24i/16o – analog model; 48i/32o – SERCOS model)

·        Floppy disk drive (3.5” HDD)

·        Windows NT preinstalled on the PC

·        MACHINEMATE software preinstalled (that includes several utilities)

·        Integrated soft PLC preinstalled

 

Everything is included for a control application.  You just connect the drives and the I/O devices to the control and the CNC interconnect is done.  The soft PLC is integrated into the control software.   No other hardware or software is required for the control.

 

This MACHINEMATE^â control provides:

·        standard RS274 NC programming (for reference: list of standard codes and list of all codes),

·        many standard features including tool path graphics, logic analyzer, PLC real-time data monitoring,

·        high level functions like helical or spline interpolation,

·        high speed algorithms like look-ahead, adaptive reactive technology (i.e., an axis feed-forward behavior that is learned), path filtering for jerk-free contours,

·        complex teach-in functions including retracing on the path,

·        open software interfaces to enable integration into the CNC kernel,

·        nearly unlimited part program length and capacity (i.e., the PC hard drive),

·        support for both Ladder Diagram and Structured Text IEC-1131 PLC languages by the integrated soft PLC,

·        (for the SERCOS interface) a SERCOS monitoring tool to assist in the start-up, maintenance and trouble shooting activities for the SERCOS ring(s).

 

Every MACHINEMATE^â control is also very expandable.  Among the additional features or capabilities:

·        Additional axis or spindle drives (up to 32 drives)

·        Larger TFT screens

·        Touch screen

·        More I/O (DC input/output points; analog input/output channels)

·        More CNC stations (where each station can run an independent part program simultaneously)

·        More machine error compensation points (a total of 1000 points is standard and this is expandable up to 16000 points)

·        Support for the other three IEC-1131 PLC languages (FBD, IL, SFC)

·        Support for Interbus-S and Profibus-DP field bus technologies

·        Support for various special applications, such as gantry axes, 5-axis transformations, 3D distance control for laser cutting or an electronic gearbox for programmable synchronization of two turning rotary axes.

·        Pentium processor upgrades for even better performance, with up to 1800 NC blocks/sec continuously (and even higher throughputs are possible for short intervals) and its integrated soft PLC can scan up to 25K instructions/ms.

·        Via the control’s PC that runs NT, other hardware capabilities are available – such as an Ethernet card, a modem or a specific operator interface (like a mouse or trackball)

·        Via the control’s PC that runs NT, other software capabilities are available – such as a CAM package, a process optimization package, an event logger, etc.  These programs can be obtained commercially or the customer can develop them.  The control’s integrated soft PLC comes with a DDE-server to support that standard software interface within Windows.

 

 

Drives and motors can also be obtained from MACHINEMATE INC but they do not have to be purchased from us.  There is a long list of compatible drive vendors.  The analog interface is straightforward; encoder feedback is required.  The SERCOS interface is accomplished solely via system parameters, not the vendor-dependent parameters, so the compatibility depends on the particular vendor’s support of the SERCOS specification.
