Matt & Sara Mason

We had our one, large annual get-together to celebrate Matt's favorite sport: football. We gathered several our friends for the superbowl and it was a great time, despite no Vikings involvement and the "wardrobe mishap."
Matt also started his new job this year. He was finally fed up with the unstable environment at Bergstrom and the commute. So, now he commutes the other direction toward the city (to Itasca). It works great for Sara because we can commute together on the days she is in the office. Which is another career development: Sara telecommutes from home 2 days a week. It is a nice change of pace and gives her an extra two hours a day to cook and clean (yeah right) and go for runs and walks on nice afternoons.
Our biggest and most exciting news by far is that we are expecting our first child June 5! We met our baby girl for the first time on January 15. The image to the left is small and dark, but you can see the skeletal structure of her profile, ribs and backbone. What a miracle! We can't wait to meet her.
Our vacation this year was a trip to Las Vegas at the end of July to celebrate our fourth anniversary. Sara had a trade show to attend that began on Sunday so Matt came with and we enjoyed the weekend together. What a crazy city! We really don't care for it much, but we found some fun there. We went to two Cirque du Soleil shows which were fascinating to watch ... a little tense and very weird. O was much more artistic than Mystere, which had more technically difficult feats. Both had a lot of dancing and acrobatics, but O's use of water was amazing. Of course, the choreographed fountains and other attractions on the boulevard entertained us as we walked from hotel to hotel. Not to mention those pesky slot machines that keep calling you and eating all your money! It was so pathetic that when we'd arrive to our hotel after the shows night, we couldn't go to bed without putting in another dollar. It is like they are calling your name ... and you know its no good but you just can't help yourself. The one day we had, we spent at Hoover Dam so we really only had three evenings there. Matt left the second day of the trade show, so it was tough to stay two more nights without him (and to have to work, too!). To the right is a photo of us at the Bellagio hotel.
