Sir Ashram

Severe spoilers contained herin.

From the dark and deadly depths of the isle of Marmo came a warrior. A knight clad in black from head to foot. Striking fear across the accursed island known as Lodoss, the man known as Ashram.

[Any wonder why Parn was scared?] He came to conquor Lodoss for the Emperor Beld, and in doing so he sealed the fate of many. As our 'seen' bad guy within Record of Lodoss War, (since Wagnard was the REAL bad guy) he's stuck between a rock and a hard place. And the last thing he needed was a nemesis like Parn. Though he handles it quite nicely when Parn THINKS he can defeat him. Not to mention the NICE insults Ashram gets in before leaving.

Enter in one dark elf, Pirotess..when the dark elves joined with the Marmo, one of Ashram's men, went after Pirotess..Ashram knocked the guys lights out..and Pirotess was very impressed by Ashram. Enamored? maybe....Love? absolutely... This bizzare relationship was to be a tragic one..

Sir Ashram went to Fire Dragon Mountain to claim the Scepter of Dommination from the dragon's horde of treasure. With the death of Beld, Ashram became the new holder of the Soul Crusher..whoever holds it, rules Marmo. And Pirotess meets up with Ashram and the Marmo at Fire Dragon Mountain after a failed attempt to capture Deedlit. Having gained the scepter, and Pirotess is completly devoted to him..you might think he had it all...but nooo..not only does an asscioate of Wagnard take the scepter, the dragon attacks. Pirotess, unwilling to see Ashram hurt, leaps in front of him, protecting him from harm with her body and with spells. It is here, Ashram changes, as the cave colapses, and Pirotess dies in his arms..he ceases to be the Black Knight Ashram..he inadverntly joins with the ranks of the Grey.

[Tragic Couple] When the smoke cleared from the death of the dragon, Pirotess was dead and had vanished..the 'heros' were off planning an attack, and Ashram was alone..and alive, saved by the grey witch, Karla. In his hand, was the circlet (or whatever you call it) Pirotess always wore. He abandoned it, and went off to do what she would have wanted...conquor Lodoss..but first..deal with Wagnard. He was believed to be dead by all the 'heros' as well as pretty much everyone. So, when Parn showed up at the stronghold to rescue Deedlit, he was rather shocked out of his armor to see Ashram alive and talking to Wagnard.

In the end, it was not Parn who defeated the two seen and unseen evil ones..Ashram killed Wagnard..and died as a result. Then that pathetic hero, Parn used both the Soul Crusher and Holy Sword to defeat Kardis, the goddess of destruction that Wagnard had been attempting to bring back. Either he killed her....or he just held the swords which could have killed Kardis in anyone's hand who could hold the both of them and stand upright. In the end, by destroying Wagnard, Ashram has redeemed himself, by actually allowing Parn to go and "kill" Kardis. While he has not become a complete good guy, he's still a better man than most of the men in the series. The only one who comes close to Ashram is Orsen.

Ashram - although it may not be apparent, was my first bishy. Yeah - I'm going fangirl on you all. I don't know WHAT it is about Ashram that I like - unless its the fact he falls under the heading of "Tall, Dark, and Handsome" That's probably it.
