| Mac Band Alumni How You Can Help |
|||||
| Many of you have asked how you can help. Here are some ideas: General --- Tell all your Mac Band friends about what's happening and have them get in touch with us. --- Are you willing to make telephone calls to people you have never met but with whom you have an experience in common (Mac Band, of course)? Future Events --- The E-mail is showing that we can justify an event in summer 2004. Think about what activities would be fun and which month is preferable - June or July? (August probably would not work because summer band usually starts immediately following the Texas Bandmasters Association convention in late July, and school starts for some districts about 2 weeks after that). Web Site and Historical Items --- Do you have pictures from your band days that you'd like to share? You can either have them "digitized" and send them to me (many stores have a self-service Kodak machine that can do this for you from a print), or you can mail me an extra print or a reprint and I can do the rest. --- Send me your favorite Mac Band stories (contests, directors, trips, fund-raisers, concerts, crazy stunts, etc., etc.) --- I'd like to get a copy of the band picture from the Mac yearbook for the following years (they are not available via the sources where I accessed the rest of the yearbooks): 1980 1996 1997 --- I'd like to get a copy of the rosters for the following years in which no band picture appeared in the yearbook (at least, not in the editions that I examined). It doesn't have to be the official one - if you can do it from memory or have an informal one (written or typed), that would suffice. 1958 1959 1961 1963 --- Do you know which people are missing from the band pictures in the yearbook from your time? (There's almost always someone who missed band picture day - !) Send me that info. --- Do you remember what music you played? Pass it on. --- Do you have copies of band articles from the Shield (Mac's school paper) or the Austin American-Statesman? (You may be able to use the Kodak machine mentioned in the photo item above or a scanner attached to a computer to produce an electronic copy.) --- I have discovered the location of at least one old uniform, 60s - 70s vintage. Do any of the rest of you have one that you scavenged (grin)? |
