Subject: Nathan Wright Obituary

Date: Sat, 5 Apr 97 04:37:35 +0000

I have a copy of the obituary of Nathan Wright from The Christian Index, page 208, v.4 , no. 13. I was able to get a copy from the fiche at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary's library (where I have been employed for the past 20 years). It reads as follows:

ANOTHER REVOLUTIONARY SOLDIER GONE. DIED, on the 17th of February last, at his residence in Lincoln county, Mr. NATHAN WRIGHT. He had been an exemplary member of the Baptist church, for more than forty years. The writer of this short notice remembers, that this aged disciple, whenever he met any of his brethren, was ready to exhort them to love and good works.

Mr. Wright died in the triumph of faith, looking forward to that blessed hope and glorious appearing of the great God and Saviour Jesus Christ. Long will the Goshen church and the neighborhood in which he lived, miss their aged brother and affectionate friend. Like Abel, though dead he yet speaketh. Infidelity itself was constrained to say, in view of his example and spirit, "there is something lovely in pure christianity."

This aged brother left behind him an affectionate wife and an amiable family of children to mourn their loss. May his prayers for them be heard; may his spirit rest upon them--may we all die the death of the righteous; and may our end be like his.

I would be glad to share copies of Nathan Wright's obituary.
