I am seeking any information on a PLINY WRIGHT or a WILKENSON WRIGHT. Both are believed to be related to the Wright family of Pownal, Vermont. (In Pownal circa 1765: Charles Wright / Solomon Wright / Josiah Wright / Dorcus Wright).

If you have any of these Wrights in your data, drop me a note at [email protected] . I would like to hear from you.

I have two Wright ancestors (from different sides of the family) that I need information on. I am looking for more info on the parents of William Bacon WRIGHT who was born 4 Jul 1830 in Columbus, Muscogee Co., Georgia. His father was John Wright. William married first Amanda J. GREER on 18 Apr 1848 in Monroe, Georgia. William moved to Texas in 1854 and established a law practice in the Lamar County community of Paris. William married second Pink GATES of Mississippi in 1868. In the new Handbook of Texas, it states that William was the great-grandson of George Walton, one of the signers of the Declaration of Independence. I don't believe this is a correct statement because George didn't have direct decendants. Can anyone help?

My other Wright is James and/or Frances WRIGHT. He was born about 1825 in either Tennessee or France. His oldest daughter Malissa was born April 4, 1855 in Nashville, Tennessee, and Fannie was born January 19, 1870 in Jackson, Tennessee. He was married to Salina PICKETT on October 30, 1853 in Wilson County, Tennessee. He worked at a sawmill in Tennessee and moved to Denton County, Texas around 1874. He possibly lived in Kaufman County, Texas and probably died in Texas after 1880 and before 1900. He had other children, "Buddy", Lafette, Lyda Wright BLACK, Polly Wright FRANK, Eliza and Silas.

I have a branch of the WRIGHT family starting out in Southampton County, Virginia that I can't seem to go any further back on. Job WRIGHTwas born about 1757; we think in Southampton County, Virginia. We have a receipt dated October 1781 where he donated beef for public use. He married a Sarah NEWTON, we think in VA because she died 27 April 1811 in Mecklenburg Co., VA according to their son's bible, which is still in the family. Job, sons Newton and John, then moved to Rutherford County, North Carolina with their wives and children after 1813 when Newton came back from War of 1812. Shortly before they left, Newton married SARAH FARMER. Job had a sister, Salley, who married a "GRIFFEN" and lived in Georgia. We have a copy of a letter she wrote to Job dated 04 April 1813, addressed to him in Mecklenburg County VA. The letter was delivered by a "Mr. Flomroy or Floumroy". We have Job's line all the way to the present on Newton and Jack.

I have published JOB WRIGHT: NINE GENERATIONS in 1996. This 184-page book contains all the descendants to the present that I have here so far. I am looking to do a Volume II. Any information you could supply would be greatly appreciated thanks! Theresa Wright ([email protected])

I am researching my family and need help with an ancestor; does this sound familiar or what? What I have: John WRIGHT, birth date unknown, married in Lincoln County, Ky., 21 March 1790 to Elizabeth "Ellie" GIBBS. Reportedly Elie was the daughter of Benjamin GIBBS (I have no proof of this). John died ca: 1806 in Washington County, Ky. leaving at least 4 children. James, Jerimiah, William, and Nancy. Nancy is my ancestor. She was born 3 March 1791 in Kentucky, and married 24 April 1810 to James MURPHEY, this also in Washington Co., Ky. Later died in Fulton County, Ky. on the 12 of July 1856. From this point I have lots of info on the MURPHEY family. But really need help on the WRIGHT line. Does anyone know anything about this line?

Elaine

Seeking parents of Obediah WRIGHT born 9 May 1787, married 12 April 1812 Knox Co. TN Malinda JONES; moved to Bledsoe Co. TN (pretty certain he did not came directly to Bledsoe Co. from Knox Co.) where my great grandfather John Joiner WRIGHT was born 29 Jan 1822. John Joiner was the 7th son. We know the first two to be: James M. born 21 Jan. 1813, Married 26 July 1832 Margaret BROWN, died 25 June 1899. 2nd son Pleasant WRIGHT also born 21 Jan. 1813, possibly in Shelby Co. KY, married 10 Jan. 1836 Sarah PATTON; remarried 20 Aug. 1868 Charity CHASTEEN; he died after 1880.

We need the names of sons 3, 4, and 5. Son #6 is Joseph Samuel WRIGHT born 31 July 1819, possibly in KY; married Sarah Ababiah BROWN ca. 1840; remarried 12 Jan. 1858 Frances Ann ALLRED.

Only known daughter of Obediah WRIGHT: Arminda Harriet WRIGHT born 8 Aug. 1830, possibly in Bledsoe Co. TN, married Joshua SMITH, died 1894 and is buried in Putnam Co. TN in Phillips Cemetery with Obediah, John Joiner, and his wife, Matilda Price WRIGHT.

I have extensive information on the WRIGHT families named (also the ALLRED families); am anxious to learn names of the other 3 sons of Obediah. Many exact names appear in the known families and might be a clue to identifying the other brothers' families. We especially are eager to learn the names of Obediah's parents and/or siblings. We do know he came to TN from NC, but don't know where.
