You have probably heard the term CQIP or “continuous quality improvement.” It means work is a process that can continually be improved. In other words, we should always look for ways to do what we do better. CQIP also provides us with a framework for problem solving. At MCVH/P, the 4‑step model we use for problem solving is called the F‑A‑D‑E process. It works like this:
ocus - First, we must generate a list of problems or issues and select which one to work on. We will then focus on this particular problem.
nalyze - Next, we will gather and analyze data. We will decide what we need to know and collect information.
evelop- Now we are ready to develop a solution to the problem, along with a plan for how we will implement the solution.
xecute - Finally, we will implement the solution and monitor how effective it is. Often when given the task of solving a problem, we aren’t sure where to begin. Worse, we may jump in and try a solution before thinking the situation through. This is where the F‑A‑D‑E process can be very helpful.
