Anaphylactic Reactions

These are severe reactions often mimicking an acute asthma attack.   Most often they occur in IgA deficient individuals who have developed antibodies which react to the IgA present in the blood or blood product.  Severe allergic reactions will present in a similar manner.  Patient may develop coughing, flushing, nausea, abdominal pain and progress to respiratory distress and loss of consciousness within
