Before using equipment, you should check that the equipment has a current Preventative Maintenance (PM) sticker. PM cycles are either 6 or 12 months, depending on the risk of the equipment. If the next inspection date has passed, please call Clinical Engineering at ###-#### to request a PM check. Do not use the equipment until the Preventative Maintenance has been done. These procedures will ensure that Clinical Engineering maintains an accurate inventory. All staff members are responsible for learning and following job and task specific procedures for safe clinical equipment operations. All incoming equipment to any XXXXX location (new, loaner, demo and/or rental) must be checked and safety certified by Clinical Engineering. Equipment must not be used until a valid Clinical Engineering check is completed and a PM sticker attached. Equipment involved in a patient occurrence must be impounded with all accessories until Clinical Engineering staff has checked and certified that it is approved for usage. Departments must keep records of equipment-related training and competencies. |
