| BIOGRAPHY - ANNA MARIA MACADAM (Born: September 7, 1940) On September 7th, 1940, Tena and Alban were blessed with the safe arrival of Anna Maria to their home in Morell, P.E.I. The youngest of the clan, she was soon pampered by all. Although Anna was busy with her friends and chores at home, she proved to be a very good student both academically and musically with countless piano lessons. She graduated at the top of her class from Morell's very first grade twelve class. Reading and music would forever be a part of Anna's life. St. Dunstan's University was next on Anna's agenda and she was off to stay with her brother A.J. and his family. She was actively involved on campus with the drama club, Glee club and, of course, the Cheerleading Squad. Cheerleading became a whole lot easier when she met her soulmate, the quarterback 'from away'. Anna graduated with her Bachelor of Arts in 1961 and later received her Bachelor of Education from UPEI. West and east were united when Anna and Gil married on August 15th, 1961 in the Little Flower Church in Morell, P.E.I. Never one to keep it simple, Anna and Gil shared their wedding reception at the Charlottetown Hotel with the Premiers of Canada. Anna even changed into her going-away outfit in New Brunswick Premier Louis Robichaud's room! After the honeymoon, they settled in Morell at the home now owned by Paul and Lynn MacAdam. Anna was the Principal for the Little Red School House. Anna and Gil have called Quebec City, Baie Comeau, Quebec, Kensington, P.E.I., and Scranton, Pennsylvania home, but in 1970, they finally nestled into Morell in 'Babe's apartment'. The cottage at Lakeside and a house on Maple street soon followed. The Quebec years produced three wonderful children: Matthew Sean (February 22, 1963), Leslie Ann (March 5, 1964), and Gregory Boyd (February 8, 1965). From Scranton came one angel - Gillis Alban (G.A.) born on November 17, 1969. Three months premature, G.A. suffered from many health complications. G.A. was truly a gift from God but he came with an enormous amount of responsibility that was only overshadowed by his unconditional love and smile! G.A. was returned to heaven on December, 29, 1972, taking a large part of Anna and Gil with him. In later years, grandchildren would bring back the joy, Joshua and Meaghan. (Ashley and Sarah benefit from Nana stories and pictures) After getting the children out of diapers, Anna returned to teaching: adult education, religion classes, and substituting at local schools. Volunteering was a way of life for Anna. CWL, Cancer Society, IWK telethons, and countless other organizations. Anna and Gil were instrumental in bringing the ProLife and Billings Natural Family Planning organizations to P.E.I. She took great pride in organizing conferences at the local and national levels. And, of course, the many countless hours as organist at the Little Flower church. Anna and Gil have had remarkable faith to carry them through heart break and illness. Gil, a diabetic since his teen years, suffered various complications with his eyes and heart. Anna had a double mastectomy as cancer was found in her breasts. This is why God created Lakeside!! Anna was called back to heaven on July 4, 1987 after suffering a massive brain hemorrhage at the age of 46. She is greatly missed.
