Pisco
Elqui, originally called Union but replaced in 1939 with its current
name, is a small town set atop a hill in Elqui Valley. The town maintains
its antique architecture through its old houses and the Chapel "Nuestra
Se?ora del Rosario", whose steeple is visible from far away.
The Pisco Elqui property is located nearby. This is the oldest distillery
of pisco (Chilean liquor similar to clear brandy) in the region and
it can be visited through programmed tours.
Elqui Valley is one of the places that calls the most attention to
this country, not necessarily for its landscape but for being related
to esoteric and extraterrestrial phenomena. In addition, thanks to
the weather conditions, the best pisco (brandy-like liquor) is produced
here and it is also the ideal place for astronomical research. It
is the birthplace of the country's greatest female poet and literature
Nobel Prize winner: Gabriela Mistral.
Tourist center of national and
international connotation that offers to its visitors an extensive
and privileged coast conformed by bays and beaches of smooth sands
and tempered waters, emphasizing its absolute decontamination. The
city-port of Coquimbo is recognized by the tourist consolidation of
