Back to the Grove

A single tear fell down her face as they kissed, both agreed this was the only way, they could never really be together, he was so powerful and she was so common, no it would never be.
"I love you, more than words could ever hope to describe," she whispered as she turned away from his embrace and began to weep into her hands. He stood back from her, looking at her pain and wishing they could be together. He had the power, he could easily allow her to be allowed into his life permanently, but he couldn't abuse his power like that. He watched as she fell to her knees on the soft grass of this world, so different from both of their homeworlds. He slowly came to her and took her into his arms as he watched the tears cascade down her cheeks.
"I love you, always and forever, I will love you and when your time comes I will see you again," he whispered as he trailed butterfly kisses up her neck. Kissing away her tears, he kissed each eyelid and noticed a strange light in her eyes as she shook her head.
"We know that will never happen," she whispered as she looked at him. Her arms wrapped around his shoulders and she pulled him into a hug, it was so awkward with the difference in size between them. "But to think about that will keep me going. You know it's no longer a secret." He nodded as he felt her gently kiss his cheek.
"I know, it's surprising that they've done nothing yet," he whispered into her hair, taking in the wild smell of flowers and earth. It was such a beautiful fragrance; it was breaking his heart slowly to think that he would never see her again.
"No, they're waiting," she looked at him as she stood up, slowly breaking their embrace. "I will hold the time we spent together close to my heart." A single tear fell from her azure eyes. "Goodbye, my love."
He stood there looking at the spot where the only one he ever loved had stood. In his long life she was the only being he had ever met that could be so strong while so very fragile. Slowly he transported himself home and stood staring at the sky, letting his tears fall to the grass beneath his feet.
"Don't do anything fooling, my beloved," he whispered and he gently placed his hands on the Z-sword before returning home.

Many Years Later

Dente was talking with Piccolo about the resent events, the disappearance of Goku to be exact. Hell was as hot as always, but Dente noted that Piccolo's chambers were nice, but that was to be expected of the Master of Hell's rooms. Piccolo had taken the job of ruling hell when he died. Dente often came to visit his childhood hero, even thought watching him torture the damned that dwelled here was rather disturbing. It was rather a shock when the strange creature opened the door and entered the room. It bowed all five of its heads, which were perched on the tops of five very thin necks.
"Master Piccolo, I don't wish to disturb you but an important message just arrived from the Grand Kai," the creature said as it looked at Dente. "Ah, good, the young Earth Guardian is here, this saves me a trip. You both are being summoned to a trial being held. They ask that you come, it's apparently very important."
"Thank you Wasaxi," Piccolo said as he slowly nodded to Dente. "Shall we go?" The young Namek nodded and the two of them transported to the temple of the Grand Kai.

*^*^*

"You are all asked to be witnesses in a trail being held," the creature said and the group before it just stared. Vegeta, Bra, Trunks, Goten, Gohan, Pan, Videl, Chichi, Bulma, Krillen, Yamcha, Tien, Chiaotzu, Yajirobe, and Master Roshi all stared at the little being that looked like a tiny dinosaur dressed like one of the Kais.
"What?" several of them cried. The creature sighed as it looked at them.
"There is a trial being held now, you are prime witnesses, we must leave now," the creature said and a bright light surrounded the group and they stood in the middle of a huge courtroom. Dente spotted the group right off and quickly brought them to the area he and Piccolo were sitting in.
"Dente, what's all this about?" Gohan asked as he looked over his glasses at the young Guardian.
"I'm not sure really, but I can tell you that every guardian of every planet is here, which means this must be a very important trial," he said as he stared at the sea of faces and noted a line of dead Guardians, guardians of dead planets.
"Will all please rise and be silent for Judge Kaioshin, Kaiobito!" a large insect cried and the room hushed as every being stood, even Vegeta. The ivory-haired, lilac-skinned Kai entered the room and took a seat.
"All be seated!" the insect cried and the room sat.
"Please enlighten me about this trial," Kaiobito sighed as he looked at the insect, apparently even HE didn't know what this is about.
"We call the prosecution to announce the case and charges!" the insect cried and Vegeta decided he would enjoy eating that bug deep-fried. Two creatures took the stand and Vegeta recognized one of them as a Saiyan! The Saiyan began talking.
"Many eons ago it was decided that a Guardian of a planet that purposely allows their planet to be destroyed will be sent to the deepest, darkest part of hell. Since that decision was made only one Guardian allowed this to happen," Piccolo, Vegeta, Gohan, and Dente all noticed the strange look that came over Kaiobito's face. "This Guardian was the Guardian of Vegitasei, Seraphim." Vegeta suddenly stood up.
"Wait a second, there were three Guardians of Vegitasei!" he cried and the man speaking smiled.
"We'll discuss that later, my Prince," he said as he turned his attention back to Kaiobito. "This Guardian not only brought around the destruction of her own planet, but she left it at the moment of its destruction. We wish to see her severally punished for not only breaking this decree but also for abandoning the people she was sworn to protect."
Many of the Guardians cried out at this in agreement and Vegeta felt his anger growing, the beings he had respected had not only allowed his world to be destroyed, but took and active role in causing that destruction!
"We now call forward the defendant!" the insect cried.
The large doors at the end of the room entered and two large guards stood on either side of the small, cloaked figure. Vegeta began to think about the two gods of Vegitasei.

*^*^*

First there was Seraphim, the goddess of wisdom. She was as old as time and knew everything, she would come to the planet and advise the greatest of kings. She was ancient as was often seen as an old woman with wrinkles covering her face. Her hair was the color of silver and her eyes the same shade as fire. She was the god that most rulers prayed to.

Second there was Michiko, the goddess of beauty, lust, and death. She was young and beautiful; often she would seduce the mightiest of warriors to their deaths. She watched over the handsomest, strongest males and would often grant her favorites mighty sons. She could often be seen in the light of the cresset moon dancing. Males would pray to her to send them perfect mates and mighty sons.

Last there was Kadar, the god of war and strength. He was a mighty beast with fangs and claws that could cut through anything. He could kill with a look and often took the most beautiful women away to be his meals. He was the one that Vegeta prayed to the most, for it was Kadar who granted Saiyans the ability to change under the power of the moon, also it was he that graced the royal bloodline with the ability to go Super Saiyan.

*^*^*

The small figure walked to the front of the courtroom and all watched as the guards stepped back and the figure stood taller. The cloak covered the body of the Guardian completely and the whole room seemed to wish to see the offending Guardian's face.
"Please remove your cloak," the insect said and the Guardian nodded. With a gently wisp the cloak fell to the ground and before them all stood a woman that looked to be younger than Trunks. She stood there with a look of utter sorrow on her face as she looked up, her hair was silver and her eyes were a lovely shade of blue. Many guardians gasped and cried out as she turned around taking in the whole room.
"Please state your full name," the insect cried and the girl looked at him. Vegeta suddenly came to the realization that this girl, Guardian of his planet, was a mere human.
"My name is Seraphim Michiko Kadar," she said in a quiet voice that was almost described as gentle.
"Please tell us why you allowed the Saiyans to believe that you were really three beings," the insect cried and the woman nodded.
"I can allow my body to appear its natural age, but only for a single day every fifty years," she said as she looked at the insect, not looking around her anymore. Dente noted a strange look in Kaiobito's eyes.
"Can you show us?" the creature asked and she shook her head.
"I performed this trick ten years ago, I will not be able to do it for another forty," she said as she looked at the insect.
"Then can you demonstrate the other reason you are mistaken for three beings?" the insect asked and the girl nodded.
"Yes," she said and she formed a small ball of light in her hands, Vegeta recognized the powering up of an artificial moon. Tossing the ball up towards the back of the room the girl turned to face her judge for the first time. "I allowed one of the few Saiyans with the potential for being good figure out this technique. In the end he allowed his people to learn it and it caused the end of many races. I use it now." The girl turned to the artificial moon and all in the room were silent.
Vegeta's eyes bugged out as he watched the girl's eyes go from blue to red and her body begin to contort and change. Hair began to cover her whole body and her teeth began to grow long. In a few seconds the lovely girl that had been there was gone and in her place a hideous monster-wolf stood. She stood tall and returned her red eyes towards Kaiobito, a sad expression on her face.
"I was attacked when I was young by a monster-wolf and was saved by the Guardian of Earth at that time. He is gone now and replaced by another. He gave me a drink of the Water of Immortality because the beast that had bitten me died, making me the last of the were-wolves. I didn't want to live this long and would not allow him to save me if given the chance, but he wanted a survivor of the monster-wolves and he knew I would never bite another to make more," she explained in a voice that sounded so harsh and strange. "I was sent to Vegitasei because the people could relate to me and I to them." A small blast of light left her fingertips and the artificial moon was destroyed and she began to shrink down. Her clothing fell to the floor in shreds and she stood there for a second naked before Kaiobito pointed at her and a long black komono appeared on her. "Thank you."
"Let us continue," Kaiobito said and the charges were repeated.

*^*^*

"We call Prince Vegeta to the stand," the insect said. Vegeta quickly went up and took a seat. He closed his eyes.
"Please tell us your title," someone asked.
"Prince Vegeta of Vegitasei," he responded.
"Whom did you pray to as a child?"
"Kadar,"
"Why?"
"He granted strength,"
"Did you hate him for failing to protect your planet?"
"No,"
"Why?"
"Freeza destroyed the planet, the gods could do nothing about that,"
"How would your life be different if your planet hadn't been destroyed?"
Vegeta started to say how wonderful his life would have been, however he looked at his mate and offspring.
"My life would not be as pleasant now if Vegitasei had not been destroyed. I would not have my mate nor my young," he said as he opened his eyes and stared at the pale girl in the black komono.
"That will be all," the Saiyan prosecutor said and the girl looked at him.
"Prince Vegeta, would you rather be living the life of the Prince of Vegitasei, or the life of Vegeta of Earth?" she asked.
"Earth."
"Would you still be alive if I had not destroyed our planet?"
"Probably not, Freeza would've killed me."
"How many more planets would be dead now if the Saiyans had not been destroyed?"
"Well, we were at three hundred thousand a year so close to six million worlds would be dead now."
"How many planets died because of Saiyans alone?"
"Three million,"
"No more questions,"

*^*^*

Hundreds of creatures, Guardians, and other life forms came to the stand either making the girl seem horrible or wonderful. Piccolo really didn't want to be in Kaiobito's shoes. He had to decide whether to send this young woman, who had saved so many lives by risking her own soul.
"We call Piccolo, Lord of Hell, to the stand," the insect called the former guardian of Earth came to the stand.
"Is it true that you fused with Kami?"
"Yes."
"Would Kami have done what this?disgrace did?"
"No."
"Is Kami familiar with this Guardian?"
"Yes."
"How does he know her?"
"As a traitor."
"No further questions."
The girl looked at him and nodded, her eyes filled with that same sorrow that she had when she first saw Kaiobito.
"What are the majority of souls' in hell?"
"Saiyan"
"How many pure Saiyans are not in hell?"
"Three maybe four."
"Kami was a decent judge, what would he have done in my exact situation?"
"He would not have been able to stay as the Guardian of Vegitasei."
"No more questions."
*^*^*

The case continued and soon hundreds of Guardians took the stands, telling how she should not be punished for bringing revenge on one of the cruelest species in the universe.
Throughout the trial the Z-senshi were brought up, asked questions about the Saiyans they had met. In the end it was up to Kaiobito to decide.

*^*^*

"This is going to be a hard decision for Kaiobito," Piccolo said and several of the Z-senshi asked as the said Kai was deliberating the case.
"Why?" Bulma asked as she held onto Vegeta's hand, she wouldn't let go since he had gone to testify.
"It's a well known fact that Kaioshin and Seraphim were once lovers," Piccolo said as he looked down at the young woman her eyes turned down in sorrow.
"WHAT?" the others gasped.
"They met during a meeting of the Guardians and eventually they found reasons to be together. However, Guardians and Kais cannot be together. They left each other before they could be taken apart, I doubt they've seen each other since, this is the first time they've seen each other," he said as he looked at the Guardian of Vegitasei.
"Oh, how horrible," Bra said as she looked down at the girl.
"Kami used to think that she was a hero for destroying the Saiyans, he wished that she could've been with her lover," Piccolo said and they all watched the girl.

*^*^*

Kaiobito entered the courtroom and stared at his former lover, his heart crying out in pain at seeing her in such pain. Her beautiful eyes hidden behind a layer of mourning and his heart cried out to comfort her.
"I have come to my decision," he said and she closed her eyes, as if hiding from him. "The fact she broke the rule we set up eons ago is a heavy burden, however, she has saved millions of worlds, turned dark hearts into the light, and she's allowed the most moral Saiyan of them all to survive. I know many of you know about my personal feelings and I know many of you will think my judgment is light. Seraphim Michiko Kadar, you will spend the equivalent of what would have been your mortal life in Hell, where you will be punished beside you people. At the end of that time you will be allowed one wish to be fulfilled," he said as he looked down at her, she smiled sadly at him as she nodded. Several creatures howled in rage, but a far large number of people screamed with joy.
Piccolo slowly walked down to the woman and looked at her. She stared at him with those sad, lonely eyes. Piccolo couldn't hurt her, he didn't know how he was going to punish this innocent girl for doing the best thing for the universe.
"Are you ready to come?" he asked and she looked up at him. A strange light in her eyes.
"Yes, let's go," without another world the former Guardian of Vegitasei and the former Guardian of Earth walked side by side together into the darkness of Hell.

*^*^*

50 Years Later

Kaiobito slowly entered the chamber of the Lord of Hell. Piccolo was out doing his job, Kaiobito sighed as he thought about the gentle Kami now being part of the Lord of Hell and sighed, things were strange.
He slowly exited the room and entered the first level of Hell, the pain and suffering of the people made him wish he had not sent his love to the fourth level of Hell. He nearly died when he saw the pain of the sinners here. He watched as the dark form of Piccolo came out of the darkness of hell. As he walked Kaiobito saw a terrifying creature walking beside him. Slowly the creature entered the light and slowly became the familiar form of his beloved.
"Kaioshin?" a soft voice asked filled with hope. Kaiobito nodded as he found he couldn't force himself to move.
"Is it really time?" the woman who looked like she had survived a war asked, those blue eyes shining in hope.
"I've come to grant you your wish," Kaiobito said as Piccolo returned into the darkness. Seraphim wept as she rushed into his arms, tears staining his robes as she hugged him. It was a new feeling seeing as she had been taller before he fused with Kabito. He felt like his heart was going to explode! "Do you know what you want?"
"I know," she said as she looked up into his face, her lips pressed against his and he felt what he thought had died when they agreed to be apart!
"What?" he muttered as he transported them to the grassy plane where he spent most of his time thinking about her. He ran his hands over her and she was clean and beautiful again.
"I wish to be with you for the rest of time," she gasped as she kissed him again.
"As you wish."
