8 - Vegeta

I opened my eyes and looked around, noticing I was no longer in the gravity room. Damn, another explosion, that Baka-onna would be here any minute to bitch me out for being so foolish. Suddenly I felt the weight on my chest and looked down to see the Cherry-onna sleeping. Her face was turned in a frown of pain on my chest and I could just barely make out what she was saying.
"Don't you dare die," she mumbled as she squeezed my blanket in her hands. "You can't die on me, you baka, I won't let you." She was leaning her upper body and head on my bed and me as the rest of her was seated in a chair. I then noticed the bandages on her hands. She must have clawed her way to me through the rubble. I smiled as I reached down and took her hands in mine, with a quick burst of ki, I healed her wounded hands and smiled as she grabbed my hands.
"Don't you go," she whispered and when I squeezed her hands again she slowly stopped moaning and fell silent.
"Sleep, Cherry, I will allow you this privilege tonight," I muttered as I slowly fell back into a normal sleep.

A Week Later

I stretched as I entered the house and noticed my food on the table. I smiled as I ate, Cherry had taken to go for long walks after lunch so often I wouldn't see her until dinner. I sighed as I got up and headed upstairs, her door was open again and I looked inside to see her sitting at her desk looking at something on her computer. I shook my head, she should get out more.

"Hey Vegeta, want to watch a movie with me?" Cherry called and I turned off the gravity and let her in.
"What is the movie and what is it about?" I asked as she smiled at me holding the container of the movie in her hands.
"It's called 'Dead Hunger' and it's about the dead coming to life and running amuck," she said as she read the back cover. "I've never seen it, but the lady at the shop says it's the latest cult flick for people my age." She looked at me and I looked at the container. On the front was the picture of a very young, attractive couple and surrounding them a group of corpses.
"Why?" I asked, she rarely asked me to watch movies with her, normally she would be watching one and as I passed she would offer to watch with me.
"Well, I've never seen this one before and I'm not so sure I like this thing," she said as she turned to look behind her. But I had seen her blush.
"Fine then, if this production of fiction scares you that much I'll watch it with you," I said as I looked at her turn a deeper red.
"I'm not scared," she stated as she looked at me from the corner of her eye and I chuckled.
"Then watch it yourself," I said as I went towards the gravity machine.
"FINE! I'm scared now come and watch it with me," she ordered as she grabbed my arm and started to lead the way. She suddenly released my arm and I was rather disappointed in the lack of physical contact. WHAT? NO! What am I thinking? I don't like her and I don't care if she touches me! Lair, a voice said and I ignored it.

The movie began as always, Cherry turned off the lights and we sat at our separate ends of the couch, her wrapped in a blanket and I leaning back with my arms crossed. When the first human was being devoured, still kicking and screaming, by the walking corpses I nearly jumped out of my skin when I felt something grab my arm! I jerked and looked to see Cherry was clutching onto my arm, burying her face in between me and the couch's back. I smirked.
"Frightened?" I asked and she looked up at me for a second before another human began screaming, then she hid her face between the couch and me again.
"Yes, but I felt the way you jumped when I grabbed you!" she said as she shivered in fright next to me.
"You surprised me, that's all," I grumbled and I watched with amusement as she huddled there.
"Are they done eating that woman yet?" she asked. I smiled wickedly.
"Yes, you can look now," I said and she turned just in time to watch them begin eating a man's insides.
"LAIR!" she cried as she dove on top of me and hugged my chest and hiding her face between her arm and my chest.
"I am not, you asked if they finished that woman and I told you the truth, they had," I stated as I watched the hero begin shooting the corpses.
"You knew what I meant," she cried as she looked up to watch the corpses attack another human. "EEEK!" I smiled as I wrapped an arm around her shoulders.
"Stop shaking, I can barely watch the movie with you shuddering so," I laughed as I felt the urge to hide myself from the army of dead.
"Shut up, you're enjoying this!" she cried and I smirked, this was also true.

I yawned as the movie finished and I went to get up when I realized that Cherry was still holding onto me. I looked down and felt that strange twinge in my heart as I saw she was sleeping peacefully, a small smile on her face as she held onto me. I shook my head as I slowly picked her up.
"Silly Onna, frightened by movies and too weak to stay up and watch them," I scolded her sleeping form. I carried her up to her room and gently placed her down on her bed, removing her sneakers and tucking her under the covers. "Baka, you're lucky I need you or you'd be sleeping on the floor."
"Arigato, Vegeta," she mumbled as she slowly opened her eyes. "I didn't think I had the energy to get up the stairs, so I was hoping you'd do that." I was about to throw an insult at the minx, but her head fell to the pillow and her breathing was rhythmic.
"Kuso onna," I mumbled as I returned to my room, enjoying her scent on my arms.
