| Back to the Grove Prologue "You know you're an orphan right?" the boy asked me and I nodded my head yes. He smiled at me and I narrowed my eyes, I was rather sharp for a four year old. "So you know you belong to the state?" the other boy asked and again I nodded. Why were they asking me stupid questions? "Good, then, I pay money into the state so technically you belong to me," the first boy said and I chuckled as I looked at him. Appearances were deceiving, I guess my pink dress and obsidian pigtails were too much for these two boys to see what I really was. "Good girl, now why don't you come over here and play with us?" the other boy said and I smiled at them. I could hear their thoughts and I knew what their 'game' was going to be. I smiled at them and I held up my little hands to them. "So whatcha got there?" the first boy asked, trying to get me close enough so he could grab me. "Lighting," I said as I opened my hands in both of their faces and the blast of ki went out, blinding them permanently and scaring their faces for life. I spat at their feet and they ran off covering their bleeding faces. "Pedophiles." "Gwendolen!" a voice called and I turned my icy blue eyes onto the director of the orphanage. She smiled at me as she picked me and hugged me. "Don't wander off, I was so worried about you. I smiled as I acted frightened, fake tears began to roll down my cheeks as I howled my sorrows into her neck. Damn, I was really good at this. Two Years Later "GET OUT OF MY SIGHT NOW!" the old man that was running the orphanage now screamed at me and I quickly ran off with the other four children. I knew what he wanted, I had seen into his mind and saw the picture of me underneath him. I wasn't going to let him get that chance. I waited until the middle of the night to creep down into the basement of the orphanage. I saw the window and smiled as I looked around. I flew up to the window and kicked it out. I saw the old man creeping around the darkness behind me. He couldn't see me?but I could see him. I slipped through the window onto the street, my dark hair flying in the wind behind me as I ran as fast as I could away from the orphanage. I yawned as I looked out across the park and smiled, I was finally free of the orphanage, no more surprise inspections by parents who didn't want me, now more fighting over the remaining food, and no more avoiding nasty old men who wanted to touch me in bad ways. I sighed as I looked up at the sun and slowly got up. I knew where I could get some food, the elderly people loved to take care of good little boys and girls that listened to their stories. I could stand a few hours of an old bat or two in exchange for some food. And so I went off into the streets of find my future. Ten Years Later I sighed as I sat in the doorway as the rain fell and I noticed the man walking down the street. He was familiar and he looked at me with a shocked expression on his face. I didn't really want to look into his thoughts so I let him go, but he didn't move, he stopped and stared at me under his umbrella, in his expensive clothes, and his expensive hair-cut. I knew how I looked, my shirt was a child's but it looked like the latest fad on me, it was tight enough to show that I did indeed have a bra on over my c-cup breasts. My jeans were tight cut-offs with knee-high boots that I had gotten out of a dumpster from behind the mall. My long black hair fell down to my waist and I suddenly noticed that the man and I had the same hair and skin. He stared at me and slowly walked over to me. "Jessica?" he asked hopefully and I shook my head. "Sorry, buddy, my name's not Jessica," I said as I looked at him, my blue eyes framed by long black lashes. "Kami, how old are you?" he asked and I looked at him for a second before deciding to go for the honest answer. "Sixteen," I said and suddenly I was wrapped in a warm hug. "Thank Kami!" he cried as he held me and I looked around to make sure no one was watching. I entered the man's mind and was shocked to find an image of a woman that looked like me only with fair skin and blonde hair. She was holding her bulging stomach telling this man she was leaving with his child. "Who are you?" I asked, even thought I knew. "I'm your father!" he cried as he grabbed me and started dragging me along. "I've been looking for you since your mother left me telling me she was going to give you up." *** In a matter of months I was introduced to school, which of course I excelled well in, to the point that I was graduating after only six months of attending it in my life. Yamcha, my father, had a blood test done and sure enough, he was my biological father, he adopted me and we lived in a lovely apartment. I wore clean clothes that fit me and I learned to control my ki and I began to train hard. By the time I was eighteen I was stronger than my father and he finally decided to introduce me to his friends, people he had told me about in stories and I already knew those I couldn't wait to meet: Vegeta and Piccolo, only because Yamcha told me nasty things about them and I have found out early on that he did that only to people that hurt his pride. |
