| Back to the Grove Chapter One: The First Gathering "Do I have to wear this, Yamcha?" I asked as I called my father by his name, something I did when I was uncomfortable. He looked at me in the outfit and smiled. "I love it, everyone's going to be so shocked to see you," he said and I sighed as I looked at myself in the mirror, the skirt went down past my knees and the sweater was killing me in the summer heat. "Yamcha, I'm changing, this is too warm to be wearing in this weather," I said as I rushed back to my room to change. I may not have the best taste in style, but I was a hell of a lot better than him. I quickly changed into a short mini-skirt and a tank top. I piled my hair up on the top of my head, letting it spike up every which way like the style. I put on some minimal make-up and put on my black shades, the first real thing I had ever owned, and slid my sexy leather jacket on my arms, just to the elbows, nothing else. I rushed downstairs and jumped in the car, Yamcha gulped at he looked at me. "You can't be serious about going looking like that!" he cried and I looked at him over the glasses. "Please Daddy," I asked and batted my eyes, knowing how much it melted him into accepting anything I wanted. He was putty in my hands. "Fine, but if any of those dirty Saiyans so much as looks at you twice?" he started and I smiled. "Oh come on, Dad. You know you'll be so proud of me it won't matter," I flashed him another award winning smile and he chuckled as we headed towards Capsule Corp. *** I don't know what I was expecting but it wasn't what I got. There was a huge area set up and there must have been a hundred people. I gulped as I pulled the sunglasses down my nose. "There are a lot more people than I thought would be here," I said as I looked around. "These are just the Capsule Corp workers, they're like family to Bulma," Yamcha said as he jumped out of the convertible and helped me out as I stared around me. "Now remember, Gwen, keep your mind closed." I had told Yamcha about my telepathic abilities and he had told me it was a gift from my mother, who had the same ability. "I will," I said as I took his arm and followed him to the pavilion where a few people seemed to stand separate and I gulped as a blue-haired woman walked up to us and smiled at me as she looked at Yamcha. "Hi, Yamcha, and who is this young lady?" she asked as she looked at him suspiciously. "Hi, Bulma, this is Gwen, my daughter," he said and Bulma's eyes lit up as she looked at me. "Well, this is a surprise! So you're the lovely Gwen Yamcha's been telling us all about!" she said as she grabbed my arm and started dragging me to a table surrounded by younger people around my age. "Trunks, Bra, I want you to meet Gwen, Yamcha's daughter. Gwen, these are my children, Trunks and Bra," she said as she indicated a gorgeous lavender-haired boy and what could've been Bulma's clone. "This is Goten, Ubuu, Marron, and the little one there is Pan. Now I'm going to leave you alone to get acquainted." I gulped as I looked at the kids and they looked back at me and I remembered my promise to my dad not to peek inside people's heads. "Hi," I said as I stared at the group and Trunks kicked out and chair and smiled at me as he indicated it. "Have a seat," he said and I took it, realizing this was a very uncomfortable situation for me. "So Gwen, what's it like having that hunk Yamcha for a father?" Marron asked and I immediately took off about 100 IQ point. "First off, GROSS HE'S MY DAD! And second, I've only been living with him for two years so I'll say it's pretty cool," I said as I looked at the girl, she had to be around eighteen and she was wearing PIGTAILS. I sighed, this was going to be hard. "Ignore Marron, sometimes she likes to stereotype blondes a little too much," Bra said and I smiled, her I was going to like. "So, what do you think of the party?" Trunks asked as he took a sip from his cup and I wondered what was in that cup. "I guess it's okay, I don't really like big groups of people," I said as I looked at them. "Hey, Marron, you wanna dance?" Uubu asked and I smiled, he was a cute kid. "Sure, Uubu-chan," she said and I smiled, that girl was an idiot. "Can you fight?" and I looked at Pan and smiled as I looked at her from under my black bangs. "Yeah, I enjoy a good brawl or two," I said as I looked at her, she was SO cute. "So how good are you?" Goten asked as he smiled. "I've been able to fly and shoot ki blasts since I was under six years old," I said as I looked at him. "Since I moved in with Dad, I've gotten better at controlling it and I've gotten bored with pretending to be at Dad's level." I sighed as I thought about how many times I had to pretend to be just a little stronger than Dad instead of being light years above him. "Really, can you show us?" Trunks asked and I smiled. "Yeah," I said as I pulled the shades down over my eyes. "If you want." "Not more fighting, that's SO boring," Bra groaned and Trunks got up followed by Goten and Pan. "Are you coming or what?" he asked and I smiled as I followed. *** "What exactly is this?" I asked as I looked around the circular room. "It's a gravity room where me and my Dad spar," Trunks said as he closed the door and Pan was jumping up and down. "So show us what you can do." I shrugged as I took off my jacket and sunglasses, handing them to Pan. "Watch these for me, kay?" I asked and she nodded wildly and I smiled as I patted her head. I began to power up, I screamed as a wave of power washed over me, surrounding me in a bright blue light. "Is that all you've got?" Trunks asked and I smiled as I jumped into the air and vanished. He looked all around him and I smiled and I kicked him into the wall. "You might want to take off that lovely jacket, we wouldn't want to rip it now would we?" I teased as he turned to face me. "Nice move, I'd like to see you try that again," he said and I could see a cold seriousness come over his eyes. "Okay," I said as I began to flash around the room and instead of hitting him from behind again I hit him from the sides and the top, fazing out before he could grab me again. "Not bad, but is super speed all you got?" he asked and I stopped. "I'm not getting this outfit ruined," I stated as I looked at him and he opened and cabinet and threw a training outfit at me. "Then go change, Pan show her where the bathroom is," he said as he looked at Goten and the two of them were smiling. I quickly changed into the outfit and went back into the room to see Trunks in a similar outfit as mine. "Ready for Round two?" I asked as I got into a fight stance and he chuckled as he did the same. This time it was harder, he was fazing out, but I was fast enough to dodge him. "Can you do more than jump around the room?" he asked as he looked at me and I growled as I power up a ki blast and began firing at him. He caught most of them but several of them knocked him off his feet. "Not bad, you might actually have some potential." *** Two hours later I fell to the floor of the room and sighed, I was drained. "I quit, I can't keep this up," I gasped as I realized how sweaty and gross I was. "I understand, you were a decent workout for a human," Trunks said and I chuckled. "What a compliment from a Saiyan," I laughed as I slowly got up. "So where's a shower?" "Panny, would you take her?" Goten asked as he smiled at me. The little girl jumped up and smiled at me. "WOW, you did great. I've never seen a human do that good against a Saiyan, even Mommy!" she said to me as she led me to a bathroom and I quickly got changed. "Where were you, Gwen?" Yamcha asked as I came out with the guys and Pan. "I was sparing with Trunks," I said as I walked by and suddenly I was grabbed and pulled to a side. "What are you talking about?" a voice growled and from the appearance and Yamcha's description, this was Vegeta. "I said I was sparring with Trunks," I said in a cold voice as I looked at him. He looked at me. "It's not possible for you to be that power source I felt fighting my son!" he hissed and I saw my father tense up. "After all you're the spawn of that Weakling!" I didn't realize I had kicked Vegeta until I felt my leg going back down and Vegeta slam into the wall. "Don't call my father that and yeah that was me," I said as I looked at him. He looked like he could kill and Yamcha was cowering by a wall as I faced the Saiyan Prince. All of a sudden Vegeta started to laugh as he patted my shoulder. "Are you sure you're his daughter, you seem incredibly strong and brave to be related to him," Vegeta chuckled as he walked away from me. I felt confused and I scratched my head as I watched the retreating Saiyan. "Did I just get a compliment?" I asked Trunks and he nodded as he sat down at the table again. "I guess I feel honored, I think." The rest of the evening went well and I had to say I enjoyed the company of my father's friends, even if I wasn't quite sure about them. |
