"What do all 400,500,600+ HP supra`s have in common?"

  ---- 12 second time slips ----

 

#1 Common Mistake:  That car has a turbo - it must be fast

 

Supra's in general are what people think of when they think they see a fast car, granted

once you modify them they are fast - but no one realisess< how much money it actually takes

to get to that point of being fast.  And more importantly what it does to your engine to

run with a hi psi turbo and actually keep the car a daily driver without ruining the engine

Compare this to 1000's of daily driver 11 sec v8's where the engine was meant to take that

kind of abuse and power without any problems at all.

 

Fact: Turning the boost up to 16+psi on yer turbo will give u a buttload of hp

Myth: This horsepower is actually usable power and is safe to use

 

See the point is unless u have twin turbos - u run off yer engine till u hit a high rpm

when yer turbo actually turns on, plus the turbo actually has to spin up to push out that

hp.  So really yer runnin off dat 200hp V6 80% of the time, and for maybe 20% of the

time when u floor it, yer using dat super turbonetics $9000 turbo (with all the required

parts to use it) - so just cuz u dyno at 700hp doesnt mean its being used.  Where as a

muscle car has the power all the way through the powerband not just at redline.

 

 

Fact: Lighter import cars need less hp to be FASTER (NOT FAST) especially with these new

engineered vtec engines (choke-gag) compared to heavy tanks such as f-body's

(honda's vtec, toyota's iitec or some bs, ford's zetec, and chevy's ecotec)

(notice the stupid marketing trend to sucker in moronic faggots)

 

Myth: Technology beats good ole american horsepower - either way u look at it 300 hp

out of a v-8 is going to spank 120hp out of a 'new' 4 banger

 

 

Question: "My friend has this `94 EX 2 door civic 5 speed.  He put some new exhaust

and a new air intake system with new headers - is he fast enuf to beat a camaro?

 

Answer:  He'd be lucky to keep up with an automatic 2.4L v6 camaro from 1984. The

fact is, a stock civic like that one runs about a mid to hi 16 in da quarter, and

he's dynoing around 85hp.  With those mods i would say he has about 97 max hp at

the rear - excuse me front right wheel.  So to answer yer question, no im sorry he's

slow - if he wants to race to prove me wrong, give me a day's lead time and i'll

fire up my riding lawn mower.

 

 

Question: "Since u obviously know everything, wut constitues a car being fast?"

 

Answer:  I'm glad you asked that, fast is a composite of multiple things.  Some ppl think

an old mustang with alot of torque that throws u to the back of the seat constitues fast

but in actuality that stang prolly runs a mid-14.  Fast to me is determined by yer quarter

mile time, and wut kind of power delivery u can get.  A good fast car to me is a daily

driven car (not trailer queens) with power to spare, and if u floor it, it goes. Anything

below 13.5 in the quarter qualifies as fast, being that it fulfills my previous requirements.

 

If you notice, imports on the freeway drive about 80-90mph - to try to give the illusion

that they are a fast moving car.  "Dude, that car blew right by me"

 

 

Another car that i hear ppl talk about being fast is a Mit. Eclipse/DSM

-Don't even waste my time, my ole 25hp  ninja 250 would lay waste to it

 

 

Question:  "Man, i saw this supra/import runnin __'s, wuzzup with dat"  (insert any low 1 digit number in the blank)

 

Answer:  What you saw was not an import/supra, it was just a plastic body molding that

resembled an import that you recognize.  If you look under the fake hood, you'll see

an engine that doesn't even slightly resemble an engine u'll ever drive.

Ok, enuf import bashing for now, lets move onto rustangs

Dude my `91 GT 5.0 is freakin fast

-You know what it prolly is, most old mustang engines respond well to mods and push out alot of hp/torque

 

-But you know what most mustangs with a K&N filer and flowmaster muffler run a mid 14 –

AND IM TALKING ABOUT EVERY MUSTANG FROM 88-02 (except R versions)

 

-I've driven alot of cars, i used to test drive cars every weekend for fun, and i drove

the new gt mustang and even when i was flooring it thru the gears, i was too busy yawning to notice any acceleration.

So for all you mustang fans - unless u mod yer stang alot - u run a low to mid 14...also i've driven turbo cars – even

though they sound like fun, unless u got 10 grand to blow on making them right - they get old fast.  (thats about the

only time i put the words stock turbo and the word fast together)

 

YOUR MUFFLER DOES NOT GIVE U 40HP, NOT 30, NOT 20, NOT 10, IN FACT IF U DYNOED

7HP  GAIN AT THE REAR I'D BE SERVERLY IMPRESSED

Now lets talk about bang for da buck - in other words how fast can I go for as lil $ spent

 

Ok, let say u want a supra that can beat just about every car on the road You somehow find a good used one for 25k, with a used twin

 Turbo - Now to make it faster dan a mid 13, u need to spend about 10 grand on new turbo/exhuasts/headers and all the little cpu crap

that is required with installation now yer car is unreliable, but looks good and it is fast but total is at least $35,000 and that`s without

new bigger tires/rims - and red tape in the interior etc - final tally: GARBAGE!

 

Good used eclipse with stock turbo 18k, plus mods, another 8k, and i dont even wanna know wut it takes to get that thing fast lets just say 10k for

engine swapout - total $36,000 but u got an ugly car that gets no looks, and no one cares about yer car except the local DSM club –

Final Tally: JUST PLAIN STUPID

 

I'll group all Honda's into one bracket - first of all civics/`ludes etc are not even fast enuf to break into the 15's, not only duz

it take alot of work and or money to make them decent, theirs no point in even modding the engine - the engine wont even

push 300hp+, so screw it - whatever u spent on it to make it faster - u wasted yer money - drive it for what it is, a good

economical daily driver thru traffic – be happy with the fact that u can spin yer front tire in 2nd gear if u hold the gas

while shiftin to second – and don’t even freakin talk bout a HBJ22 engine swapout – if u wanna compare engine swapouts

Chevy makes a big block 572, u freakin morons Final Tally: IF YOU DO THIS YER ABOUT AS DUMB AS U R SLOW

 

What about a newer mustang, sure spend maybe 2-3 grand on it, and ya its pretty fast and sounds better den nething - but i guarentee you'll

have some mechanical problem at some point - yes most fast cars have a problem at some point, but with a stang

yer guarenteed a breakdown or ford will refund yer money - final tally: RESPECTABLE

 

So obviousy im biased towards chevy v8's, not just becuase of the fun factor, the speed and acceleration,

but if you go look at the link of what i've spent u'll see u can get a nasty sounding, good looking, low

quarter mile car for freakin cheap.
