5. William PACE
RECORDS Book: Pace Family, by Noble H. Pace. The Pace family came to
the Jamestown area with the first or second boat. They were there in
1622 during the Jamestown Massacre. Had it not been for ancestor
Richard Pace the Indians would have killed a lot more of the settlers
than they did. Richard had befriended an Indian boy, the boy brought
word to Richard that the Inidans were going to attack the settlers.
Richard was able to get word to all the people on his side of the
river, but all on the other side of the river were killed except a
baby girl, named Sarah Maycock who later married George Pace, son of
Richard Pace of which we are descendents. Sarah's parents were
massacred along with the rest.
