MILITARY: Private in War of 1812. PROBATE: Drawer 54, Clerks office,
Davis county IA, names all 12 children. MISC: "Missouri History
Adair, Sullivan, Putnam and Schuyler counties", Missouri Historical
Society, Columbia, MO. p 992. Article about Obadiah Lowe states he is
the son of Daniel and Delila (Baber) Lowe. Paternal ancestry is Irish
and the maternal side is Scotch English. MARRIAGE: Clark County KY
marriages, 1793-1919. RECORDS: 1. September 7, 1830, Daniel LOWE,
mortgage to Isaac Mize and Ansil Daniel, as security to Beverly
Broaddus on two notes, amounting to $60.50, sell ally my tan bark of
30 cords and 100 acres I bought of Chilton Allen on Calloway Creek,
horse, calf, and sheep I got from Felding Griggs. [Book E, page 26]
2. November 3, 1830, Daniel LOWE and Celia his wife, John Abner (Abney
Jr.) and Matilda his wife, Mansion Brookshire and Elizabeth his wife,
Skyler KING and Malinda his wife, Jesse Jackson and Sally his wife,
Anna Tyra heirs and legal representatives of James McCarty deceased.
to Fielding Griggs for $400, a tract of land decended as heirs of
James McCarty, being same deeded by Clem Griggs on 28 Dec 1819.
Understood we conveyed Chilton Allen's claim, (also understood that
Daniel LOWE and wife conveyed the rights they received from John
MATHERLY and wife, Elijah Morgason and Celia his wife. Note: This
was written by Robert Clark and confusing, that deed was signed Daniel
LOWE and Delia LOWE. [Book E, page 81] 3. February 21, 1832, Daniel
LOWE, mortgage to Joshua Mize and Isaac Wiseman, for $100, as security
on Bond to James Keas, mortgage 2 horses, one a lay bank horse, the
other an iron grey, a yoke of oxen, cart, 3 milk cows, 17 hogs,
feather bed and furniture. [Book E, page 190] 4. February 28, 1827,
Elijah Morgison and Celia his wife, John MATHERLY and Patsy his wife,
to Daniel LOW, all of the counties of Clark, Madison and Estill,
received $102.75, our rights and title, as decended to us as two heirs
of James McCarty deceased, land on Calloway Creek, conveyed to McCarty
by Clem Griggs 28 Dec 1819. [Book E, page 408]

Missouri.
He died December 16, 1863 at the Post hospital in Jacksonport, Arkansas. His effects were delieved to his son John Wesley on December 17, 1863.

By records he was sometimes identified as Wesley Matherly or incorrectly as Wisely or Wesly Matherly. His wife Nancy Lowe Matherly reported as dying on February 20, 1862. Grave locations not identified yet. ...
Joseph Robb of Marion Township, Davis County, State of Iowa became guardian of JamesMatherly, Rachel Matherly, William J.Matherly, Elizabeth Matherly, and Armilda Matherly who were the surviving young children of John Wesley Matherly.

Parents John Wesley Matherly and Nancy Lowe Matherly were married in Estill County, Kentucky on August 1, 1838.
"John Wesley Matherly was enlisted or enrolled on December 3, 1861 at Palmyra, Missouri. He
died at the Post Hospital in Jacksonport, Arkansas on December 16,1863. He was mustered into service on June 21, 1863 at Arcadia, Missouri. The effects of the elder John Wesley Matherly were
delivered [to] his son John Wesley Matherly on December 17, 1863.

Son John Wesley Matherly died February 28, 1920 and is buried in Harrington, Washington with his wife Elizabeth Edwards Matherly.
William Jesse Matherly died July 27, 1934 and is buried in Harrington,
Washington.


42. Obediah LOWE

RECORDS Obediah's burial place is Forest Llewellyn Cemetery Lot 23 in
Sherwood section, according to the index to that Cemetery. One copy of
the index at BYU HBLL. Bible gives births and deaths of his children
and some of the spouse, Bonnie Hickman-711 E 200 S, Spanish Fork, UT
84660 801-798-8780 has copy of the hand written records. The bible did
not give birth places but county Histories of Davis County Iowa, and
Adair, Putnam. Schuyler and Sullivan Cos. MO pg 992 Biographical
appendix of Adiar Co. Along with the 1850, 1869, and 1880 Federal
Census give places of birth for the children. RECORDS: Obadiah A.
Lowe, obtained 450 acres from the US Government original land grant on
July 2, 1846. The first school was started in the area when Obadiah
deeded one acre to school district #1 (later known as Washington
school district) for $1.00 on Oct 28, 1854. He sold he original 160
acres to James Milliken in 1861 but the land was purchased back into
the family by Daniel Lowe (this is Obadiah's son) in 1856 for $17.00
per acre.

Township, Davis county. William K. (Joseph' s brother) was married to
Hannah Josephine Lowe (another sister to Drucilla and Nancy).
