Chriswell:

A precious one from us has gone
a voice we loved is still;
A vacant place in her home
which we can never fill.
Loyal ones have born her
away to her rest;
Clasped the cold and icy hands
across the still and peaceful breast
Gathered the robes
around the cold clay,
Heaven has taken
our loved one away.
Worry might have blighted
our beautiful one,
Sorrow's dark clouds
O'er her been thrown;
Grieved ones, oh chide not,
the hands that would save
Heaven has taken
but that which it gave.
Hearts may have their sorrows
of griefs that quickly die away,
but a loved one taken from us
grieves the heart from day to day.
Her arms that once embraced us
'round,
shall moulder in the cold, cold
'ground;
but oh, upon that bright, celestial
shore,
we'll meet where parting comes
NO MORE.
