NOTES
The George's was the second wagon train to come to the Mission in Walla Walla. (which I checked dates and that would have been in the 1840s)Emily George was about 8/10 years old and her job was to pickup
buffalo chips for the fires. She wander too far off one day and when
they found her she was surrounded by Indians. Because of her Bright
Red Hair the Indians did not know if she was real or not. They thought she was a special person and they backed away and left. She also said that this Emily was a Herb Woman which the knowledge was handed down from her mother. Now by 1864 the Indians would have known white people for quite some time and Red Hair would not have bothered them, so maybe it was it the 1840s.
Also said that Emily's father James shipped Camels into the county to go thur the desert parts instead of horses.
