MY note from Aunt ALma: In this deed Caleb Baker is known as Junior.
Caleb Baker, his uncle and the son of Caleb Baker who died during 1754,
was living at this time and it was often the custon for a nephew or
cousin of the same name, but younger, to be known as "Junior" to distinguish
him from the elder person of the same name. Caleb BAker, the brother of Amuel
Baker, died 1824.

Land Tax Book Record for 1789-CALEB BAKER, Jr 116 acres
Land Tax Book for 1792-Jane Baker 116 acres (Caleb Baker had died
that year , intestate.
Note: SAmuel Baker (Will 1782) devised to his son, CALEB BAKER, three
Negroes named Hannah, Tom and Old Dol. CALEB BAKER died in 1792 and the property tax books show that Jane BAker owned the two slaves, Tom and Hannah. No doubt Old Dol had died.
I believe these facts are evidence that the CALEB BAKER who married Jane Thompson was the son of Samul Baker whose will is recorded in 1782.

office: for the year 1802- Jane Baker and Thompson (BAker) 1 white tithe and 2 slaves named Tom and

26. Caleb Jr BAKER
Notes for CALEB BAKER, JR.:
Janean Cleveland reports:
Prince Edward County Court April 1792- Court orders Ambrose Nelson, HughRitchie and William Womack to appraise the slaves and personal property of Caleb Baker, Jr. This is thought to represent an estate appraisal after deceased. It may be for some other purpose.Bonnie Miller reports Caleb Baker Jr. death as in 1824.
It is possible that Caleb Baker Jr. did die in 1792. It is also possible that the Caleb Baker reported by Bonnie Miller as deceased in 1824 was Caleb, son of Samuel ( Caleb Baker, Sr.,> Robert Baker >, John Baker
>, Andrew Baker
