| Hello, my name is Maria McCarty. I graduated from California State University Northridge in 1992 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science. I am now back to get my teaching credential. I decided to become a teacher after I had my children. I have been married for 10 years to a wonderful and supportive man. I have an 8 year old handsome boy, a 7 year old beautiful girl, a 3 year old cute little girl and a 7 month adorable little girl. I am currently a 1st grade teacher at an elementary school, and have been at this school for 7 years. My experience teaching has been fifth, Third, and kindergarten. This is my first year teaching first. |
| About Me |
| My teaching philosophy composes of three principles: prepare, motivate, and educate. Some of these principles I have learned to do better than others. Thus, I hope that with time and experience, I will make stronger all three.
Preparation is being ready for the expected and the unexpected situations in life. I will design lessons for students mastery as well as their needs. Motivation requires a positive attitude and expectation toward oneself and others. A person with a positive attitude is capable of finding a solution to a problem and does not easily give up. Upon attaining a good idea, a person with a positive attitude likes to share and wants others to be successful. I hope to impart this principle, first on myself, then hopefully to my students. Education requires a person to seek out oppportunites to better oneself. As a teacher, education can be obtained from working, learning through others. My actions affects lives, being an educator requires me to continuously educate myself. Everyday I go to work hoping that I can make a difference in the lives of my students. I hope that educating with this philosophy will allow me to reach my utmost potential as well as my students. |

| EED 602-Technology to Curricular Goals |
| This website is for the class E ED 602, an advanced level computer course that is a required course in order to obtain a clear teaching credential. This course will teach me computer skills that I will be able to apply to all areas of the curriculum. I will learn to review, modify and design instructional material to suit my style of teaching as well as my type of students. The skills I learn will help me to design engaging lessons for my students. It will help me in my organizational skills, and the ability to use student data more efficiently. My web page and the ability to write a newsletter will help me to communicate with parents. |
