The main character of Final Fantasy 10, Tidus, is a star blitzball player, supposedly from Zanarkand. Thrust into a new world after an encounter with the evil Sin, he finds himself teaming up with a group of summoners, magicians, thieves and fighters, as well as other Blitzball players, attempting to beat Sin, and rid the world of Spira from its pain. Tidus is connected to this world in more ways than he first realises - will he be able to survive?

Its hard being a summoner. You spend your life training in the ways of your religion, learning how to summon great aeons, whilst looking after your people. Once this is done, you can attempt to defeat Sin, at the cost of your life. Yuna, willing to sacrifice herself for Spira, journeys forward with her guardians, summoning great beings such as Valefor, her first Aeon, called forth when she first became a summoner.

Yuna's father Braska beat Sin many years ago, and Auron was one of his guardians then. Now that Sin has returned, Auron joins Yuna to take on Sin once more. He also knows a great deal about Tidus's link with Spira, and acts as both a father and a comrade to both Tidus and Yuna.

Another Blitzball player, Wakka retires in order to become a full time guardian for Yuna on their quest to beat Sin. He finds Tidus on a beach in Besaid, and is responsible for bringing him to meet the summoner. Sadly his brother Chapu was lost years ago, and Wakka carries a great burder with him, but it is one he carries well, and Wakka always manages to keep spirits high.

Rikku is the first person Tidus meets when he comes to Spira. The young Al Bhed, Rikku is a deadly combination of good looks and technical skill. Enemies could be easily fooled by her gentle and fragile exterior, allowing themselves to fall foul of her mixing techniques, mechanical skill, and her ability to "acquire" objects.

The strong Ronso Kimahri was asked by Auron long ago to protect Yuna, and since then he has done so, guarding her since she was only a little girl. Years later, he joins them on their quest, armed with his great lance, and ready to take on enemy, no matter what size or strength they may be.

One of Yuna's closest childhood friends, along with Wakka, Lulu has also suffered since the loss of her lover Chapu. She is a great magician though, casting impressive spells of many different elements clearing a path for Yuna and the rest of the guardians whenever she can. She is also wise, and often aids Auron in the careful guidance of the group.
