Heard of GTA3? Well, most people have, either through news reports complaining about the violence in the game, or simply because, according to the sales figures, virtually everybody with a PS2 has the game. As a result you don't need me to go into detail about the level of mayhem and destruction you can cause - stealing vehicles, taking part in extremely varied missions, and basically doing whatever you want. What needs to be said is what's new about this game. What makes it better than GTA3...
Could it be the fact that it allows you to go inside a large selection of buildings, or could it be the fact that you can land a helicopter on the roof of a building (or was it the fact that you could fly the helicopter in the first place?). Rockstar Games have taken a good look at all the comments they received about the first game, and rather than churning out a cheap sequel in the hopes that it would sell just because it was the sequel to GTA3, they have allowed gamers to go even further, and allow people to do literally whatever they want in this game. Go anywhere, do anything, and feel happy.
Its not just the new stuff thats exciting either, take a look at the table below which has a very interesting comparison:
| GTA3 | GTA: Vice City |
| 11 Weapons | 40 weapons |
| 40 vehicles | 100+ vehicles |
| 2500 pedestrian comments | 8000 pedestrian comments |
| 3 hours of radio | 9 hours of radio |
| 25 pedestrians | 80 pedestrians |
| 2 hours of scripted dialogue | 8 hours of scripted
dialogue |
| 30 minutes of cut-scenes | 90 minutes of cut scenes |
Its bigger, its better, and most importantly its badder (I never was any good at "gangster speak"). GTA: Vice City is likely to emulate the success of its predecessor and dominate the sales charts for the next few months.
