If you have access to a chipped PS2 (which of course can't be recommended), then you might already be able to play the teaser version of the game from Japan. If not, you'll have a little wait ahead of you, but one that many are sure will be completely worth it. Sit back if you can, and await the most realistic racer ever, again.
Gran Turismo 3, the only other full Gran Turismo game on Playstation 2, was a massive hit, and pretty much fulfilled its promise, but now we have higher standards for PS2, and we expect far more. Thankfully it looks like GT4 might just deliver that. Its not just the potential for an online mode allowing 6 players in at once, but improvements to the game as a whole that could draw us in.

There are some exciting rumours around suggesting that the game could appear on two discs, similar to some of the PS1 originals, where the arcade mode was kept on a seperate disc to the gran turismo mode, allowing for a much more extensive experience in each mode. If you thought 400+ races in tournaments with a couple of hundred cars was big, then prepare to have that record shattered by GT4, which looks set to be even more massive.

Other unconfirmed rumous include the possibility of motorbikes, even those models capable of reaching speeds over 400 mph. Along with the usual tuning up of graphics, and fiddling with the handling, this suggests a proper update to the Gran Turismo series (don't be concerned about another GT Concept here). More details to follow!
