Last year, racing was all about Gran Turismo 3. It didn`t matter how many other games were thrown at it, Gran Turismo always came out the strongest. After so much waiting, GT3 had turned out to be well worth the wait. Sadly, this meant that some excellent games didn't quite get the recognition they deserved. One of these was Burnout. Certainly there were a lot of people who respected the game's amazing speed, and some even said they prefered it to GT3, but the game was still overshadowed.
This time though, things are different. Burnout 2 is arriving soon, faster, louder, and far far better than before, and looks set to take the title for the best racing game this year.
Speed. Thats what its about. This game has bucket loads of it. Retina melting frame rates in a package where the cars are going so fast, its all you can do to stay on the course. Its the kind of game that makes you fine tune your reactions, leaving you dead in the water if you don't.
Its not just the speed that's been ramped up though, the level of graphical detail has been greatly enhanced to make the whole experience both prettier and more realistic. Despite the extra polygons on screen speed is not sacrificed, making this a fantastic racing game.
Some exciting features:
- Improved crash system to aid playability.
- Unbelieveably, more speed.
- More cars, more tracks, more detail.
If you're willing to destroy your nervous system, then rather than taking drugs, why not play Burnout 2? Start making out a prescription now. You`ll need glasses once your eyes have been assaulted by Burnout 2's awesome speed. While you wait for them to arrive though, check out the screenshots to the left.
