Fight! - As with many of the Final Fantasy games, and other Squaresoft titles, the easiest way to complete the game is to take your time, and get into as many fights as possible. It seems silly, but if you stick around, collect items, and fight to build your experience levels, then you go onto the next stage a much stronger character.
Talk! - Its always worth talking to as many characters as possible, often because they will give you useful items, but also because they may yield helpful hints and directions. When stuck, just talk to everyone again, and perhaps they will be the key to reaching a new area.
