Ever wondered what would happen if certain key events in Farscape hadn't happened, or perhaps if they affected a different person? Looking through the four seasons of Farscape, I've picked out a few important moments that under different circumstances could have led to a vastly different timeline.
Scorpius's Neural Clone:
|
What led to Crichton having the chip inside his head? Scorpius put it there to dig out wormhole knowledge, but what if Crichton had escaped earlier, forcing Scorpius to put the chip in another character, in order to use that person to get to Crichton. Obviously Crichton was the best choice as it was his brain with the knowledge, but by putting a chip in another character, he could use that person to bring Crichton in as a captive. The best choice might have been Aeryn who could get closest to Crichton, but how would she have coped with the chip?

Imagine her struggle between Scorpius's orders to bring in Crichton, and her own love for the man. Would she act as crazy as Crichton? Would she be able to bring him in? Or would she just end things another way? Whilst the details behind actually getting the chip in another head are pretty rubbish, the idea is quite exciting, and I did enjoy thinking what might have happened in an episode such as Crackers Don't Matter. Aeryn was already fantastically funny, but with Scorpius in her head...
Zhaan's Energy Gift:
|
When Aeryn was shot down by Scorpius's neural clone, she was frozen by the Diagnosan. Later, Zhaan gave her a gift of spiritual energy, which revived Aeryn but left Zhaan weakened forever. What if Zhaan had decided to be selfish? Aeryn wouldn't have come back, Crichton wouldn't have cared about anything except getting home, and perhaps he would have stayed on Earth when he had the chance. Obviously Aeryn had a massive influence on the events of seasons 3 and 4, and much would have changed without her, but I think it likely that without Aeryn to stay for, Crichton would have shut the wormhole at the end of season 4, and stayed behind on Earth.
| | |
The loss of Aeryn would certainly have brought an early end to the series, but even if it hadn't, Crichton's probable decision to stay on Earth certainly would have. Bizarrely I'm sure the Sci-fi channel would have gone and asked for a fifth season then. Stupid.
Chiana Doubled:
|
It was Crichton who stayed doubled as both versions managed to escape from Kaarvok, but what if only one had made it, and instead, Chiana had stayed doubled. If Crichton had then been killed in Icarus Abides, it would have left no hero character, but two Chianas. D'Argo would have been a *very* happy Luxan, but the show could have been left with problems. Chiana sadly doesn't have the same wormhole mystery about her, and things wouldn't have been the same.
| | |
Chiana was a fine character, played by an excellent actress, and had they split up in the same way as the Crichtons then things could have been interesting aboard Talyn, but how the writers would have coped, I'm not sure.

These are just a few I knocked up in a couple of spare minutes, but if you have any ideas that are better thought out, that you'd like to share, then feel free to e-mail me with them, and I'll try and put them on the site.
