Here is a Linoleum Print that I made. It was based off of a former pencil drawing I had made. I chose to make a three color print to bring out the features of the dog and I decided to use wild colors on some of them to create a pop art style of print. You can't really see it in these pictures, but the yellow dogs have a ghost like appearance because the markers I used to mark off my linoleum block bleed into the first few prints. I thought it added a very interesting effect so I left a few of my prints with just the one color and the ghost like images.

We had a very unique pumpkin grow in our patch last year...so we painted it to resemble what it very much looks like. We got many comments on the pumpkin and it really got a lot of attention when my aunt took it to work and put it on her desk.

This is a sculpture that I made. The head was a bowling ball that got broke the last time I went bowling. I pasted numerous facial parts on the ball and then started to add other found objects to it. It is resting on a coffee can and the arms and hands have wire in them so I can position them however I want. I call this my Is This Something sculpture.

The two projects to the left were a pair of bird house gourds that I painted. I made these as a gift for a couple I knew who moved away. I used acrylic paint to make these and I look at a picture of the couple so I could strike a resemblence to the couple. I thought that they turned out very well.

One of the art projects I did in high school my senior year was a metal found object sculpture. I live near a junk yard so I had a very large supply of the materials I needed for this projet. I spent some time in the junk yard just looking for random parts and with what I found I decided to make my sculpture a dog. The top three pictures show the work in progress as I was constructing it in our shed.
These three pictures show the finished project after I had all the parts assembled and I spray painted it silver. I left a few things their origional color - such as the wheels for the feet and the door knob that is the nose. I also added a few extra features, such as marbles for eyes, a spatula tongue, and a set of dog tags. The final step was to name my creation. With the help of a few of the other students in my art class I finally decided on the very fitting name of 'Scrappy'. Scrappy has become very popular and he has made his way to many different places for display, including the nursing home where I work, the county fair, and he made a great conversation piece at my graduation party.
A few pictures of Scrappy and I together when I showed him at the nursing home.

Here is another large project that I did the summer of 2003. The 4-H club I was a member of had to option of getting a cement rooster and decorating it to be auctioned off as a fundraiser. I was put in charge of the decorating of our rooster. I decided to paint it realistically and make it look like a real rooster. I started by covering the whole thing in white and then I started adding the large areas of color. It was challenging to paint of this as it was so large and very heavy to move around. You can't really see it in these pictures, but I added some shiny paint and sparkles to the tail to make it stand out. I also antiqued the eintire thing when I was finished to help bring out the details. When I was finished with this project we decided to name our rooster Sparkles. I was very pleased that Sparkles brought $200 when he was auctioned off. I had a lot of fun painting him, and I would do another statue if I had the chance to.
