INDIA.....A Country so special beyond all telling - So bright, so vivid, so impossibly complicated. It is a place where exotic is normal and normal is often exotic. It is such a great lesson in Democracy. Do you think this Country is variegatede? Try a place with hundreds of religions, languages,races,cultures-even people living in different Centuries. It is probably the only place on earth where you can actually see a Businessman in a Mercedes, talking on a mobile phone, speed past a farmer using an ox to drag a wooden plow.
And it is wonderfully noisy, as democracy always has been - noisy with the cheerful clang
of people disagreeing with one another in the happy certainty that absolutely anyone might
win the argument.For someone from anyplace where people like their food,their politics, culture and their language-India is more of a homecoming . Even sidling tactfully around people living and dying on the streets of Bombay is different only in degree, not in kind, from the streets of New York in the '80s. From the ancient time this land has been a synonym of knowledge, elegant culture, affection and diversity.People came for trade and became masters. It was not because we did not have enough fire power to throw them out but because this country has always preferred tolerance to aggression, peace to war and brotherhood to hatred. This country has seen an oppression and exploitation which has no perallel in world history and though we are just 50 years young as a independent nation yet India's progress in most of the areas has been commendable.Indians have made home away from home all around the world but it is a fact that miles between them and India exist only on map. And even today the people, the culture and the music of the land of ours remain as close to our hearts as ever.
