To Protect a Loved One in the Military

  • CAST THE CIRCLE:
    "By the Power of Land, Sky, and Sea
    By the Power that flows within me
    By the Power of three times three
    This Circle is cast
    So Mote It Be!"

  • MEDITATE ON THE CONNECTION YOU HAVE WITH YOUR LOVED ONE, FEELING IT AS A SLENDER, UNBREAKABLE CORD COVERING THE DISTANCE BETWEEN YOU.

  • INVOCATION OF THE ELEMENTS:
     East: "Hail, Mighty Falcon, Element of Air, and all ye benevolent Faery folk of the Eastern Realm! I invite you forth this night to watch over my loved one, wherever he may go. Give him the swiftness of mind and body necessary to evade those who would do him harm. Build around him an impenetrable shield, formed of the very air, its swirling winds a cover to blind the eyes of his enemies, whoever they may be. This I ask in Epona's name."

    VISUALIZE THE SHIELD SURROUNDING YOUR LOVED ONE ON ALL SIDES UNTIL THE IMAGE IS FIRMLY IN YOUR MIND.

    South: "Hail, Mighty Fox, Element of Fire, and all ye benevolent Faery folk of the Southern realm! I invite you forth this night to watch over my loved one, wherever he may go. Give him the cunning to outsmart his enemies, whoever they may be. Build around him an unbreakable shield made of fire, its dancing flames an obstacle his enemies will fear to cross. This I ask in Epona's name."

     VISUALIZE THE SHIELD SURROUNDING YOUR LOVED ONE ON ALL SIDES UNTIL THE IMAGE IS FIRMLY IN YOUR MIND.

    West: "Hail, Mighty Mare, Element of Water, and all ye benevolent Faery folk of the Western realm! I call you forth this night to watch over my loved one, wherever he may go. Give him the courage to face his duty calmly. Form around him an uncrossable sea, made of your blessed waters, to keep his enemies, whoever they may be, at bay. This I ask in Epona's name."

     VISUALIZE THE SHIELD SURROUNDING YOUR LOVED ONE ON ALL SIDES UNTIL THE IMAGE IS FIRMLY IN YOUR MIND.

    North: "Hail, Mighty Wolf, Element of Earth, and all ye benevolent Faery folk of the Northern ream! I call you forth this night to watch over my loved one, wherever her may go. Give him unceasing loyalty to his duty and to his fellow [military branch's name for their troops]. Build around to him an unbreechable fortress, fashioned of the Mother's bones, to keep his enemies, whoever they may be, from reaching him. This I ask in Epona's name."

     VISUALIZE THE SHIELD SURROUNDING YOUR LOVED ONE ON ALL SIDES UNTIL THE IMAGE IS FIRMLY IN YOUR MIND.

    CENTER: "Hail, Mighty Lion, Element of Akasha, and all ye benevolent Faery folk of the Spiritual realm! I call you forth this night to watch over my loved one, whoever he may go. Give him unfailing strength in the battles he must fight. Build around him an unimpregnable shield, composed of the very ether, to repel negativity from all sources. This I ask in Epona's name."

     VISUALIZE THE SHIELD SURROUNDING YOUR LOVED ONE ON ALL SIDES UNTIL THE IMAGE IS FIRMLY IN YOUR MIND.

  • CALLING OF DEITY: This, to me, is a very personal thing, so I'm not going to give any specific words to say. The best thing to do is to politely ask that Epona join you in the Circle and speak to Her from your heart.

  • RELEASE THE ENERGY AND FEEL IT COURSING THROUGH THE THREAD CONNECTING YOU TO YOUR LOVED ONE, HEADED FOR ITS DESTINATION. ONCE THE ENERGY HAS FINISHED FLOWING, YOU MAY DISCONNECT THE CORD BETWEEN THE TWO OF YOU, IF YOU WISH, OR LEAVE IT IN PLACE TO "FEED" THE SHIELDS PERIODICALLY.

  • THANK DEITY: Again, this is a very personal thing, so do it in your own way.

  • FAREWELL TO THE ELEMENTS: Starting with North and moving widdershins (counterclockwise), say: "Mighty [totem's name], Element of [element's name], and all ye benevolent Faery folk of the [direction] realm, I thank you for your continued protection of my loved one. Remain with him until he returns safely home. Merry did we meet, merry do we part, and merry shall we meet again."
  • DISMANTLING THE CIRCLE1:
    "Earth will crumble my Circle
    Water will cause it to fall
    Fire will burn what's left in the urn
    And the winds will scatter it all."

  • GROUND YOURSELF: eat something, such as saltine crackers, to help ground your energies after the working.
