When the first spy pictures of the 2004 Aprilia RSVr I knew it was something I had to have. In October of 2003 I placed my order for this Italian beauty, and have not regretted a moment since. I was fortunate to get an early production number, 43, and have only made small mods to the bike.
Out of the box, the bike had a nasty dip in the horse power curve at 5,000rpmdue to the 3 way catalytic converter in each pipe. Also, the clutch and breaks did not work well out of the box because of air in the system. To solve the dip problem I cored the pipes with a 60mm core to help the bike breath better. The clutch and breaks were fixed by bleeding and replacing the stock DOT 5 fluid with DOT 5.1. Now, the RSV has wicked acceleration throughout the power band, and one nice roar.
Current mods are: 2 lines down on front forks, 60mm cored pipes, red powdercoated exhaust cans, new Aprilia Racing exhaust stickers, custom made GP style rear hugger decal, fender eliminator, and removal of upper side decals.
Future mods include: PC III USB with custom map, smoke front turn signals, red rear turn signals, and new exhaust hanger brackets to remove the passenger foot pegs.
