Chemistry Projects

There will be four required projects (1 per nine weeks) during the course of the school year. These projects are to be done outside of class (I will give you advice and suggestions during class, but will not devote class time to them).  Most will require the use of the Internet. I will provide some links to get you started. (If you find any other excellent links, please email them to me). No late projects will be accepted.

Projects

  1. First nine weeks - Chemistry career
  2. Second nine weeks - Element
  3. Third nine weeks - Household Chemical
  4. Fourth nine weeks - Journal
  5. Grading

Career project - First Nine Weeks

Due October 7, 2003

  1. Responsibilities or duties of the chemist.
  2. Working environment and places of employment.
  3. Educational background required - degree number of years of college, experience etc.
  4. Average salaries for the position.
  5. Any other information you find which helps you to understand the requirements and benefits of a career in chemistry.

Grading :

The grade received will be based on the accuracy and completeness of the information based on the above requirements and on neatness ( typing, appropriate use of color etc). If additional information (that is pertinent) is added it will also be considered in the final grade of the project. See the grading rubrics for each project for more specific information.
