Advanced Chemistry Element Research Project
For this project, each student will do the following:
1. Choose an element to research.
2. Make a PowerPoint presentation to show to the rest of the class.
3. Do a chemical demonstration involving the element researched.
Any element may be chosen for research, but make sure it is that can be safely demonstrated in front of the class. Also make sure you choose an element that has sufficient information to complete your project.
The PowerPoint presentation needs to be at least 15 slides and must have the following information:
1. Physical properties (melting point, boiling point, density, etc.)
2. Chemical information (atomic number, mass, valence electrons, electron configuration)
3. Isotopes
4. Historical information (when discovered, historical uses)
5. Modern uses of the element
6. Where/how the element is found
7. Works cited (project will NOT be graded without this)
Demonstration:
See me for some books about suggested demonstrations. All demonstrations must be cleared through me before they can be done in front of the class.
